The FAG NUP222 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is an open, fixed bearing with a brass cage, designed for shaft diameters of 110 mm under high radial loads.
The NUP222 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing designed to accommodate high radial loads in industrial applications. With key dimensions of 110 mm bore, 200 mm outside diameter and 38 mm width, this roller bearing supports heavy radial loads. Thanks to its NUP design, it functions as a fixed bearing that absorbs axial forces from both directions via fixed flanges and a loose flange disc. The FAG version complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
This design is used to guide a shaft in the axial direction and fix it in place at both ends. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, the bearing can withstand high radial forces. The fixed bearing configuration is primarily used where axial forces must be supported in both directions. As the outer ring is manufactured without a lubrication groove or bore, the lubricant is supplied via the adjacent structure of the bearing housing.
The solid brass cage guides the rollers during vibrations and when load directions change. Brass is characterised by its dimensional stability and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. The slightly increased radial clearance (C3) compensates for thermal expansion during operation. It helps to prevent the bearing from becoming stressed when temperature differences occur between the shaft and the housing or where there are tight fits.
The NUP design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, one fixed flange on the inner ring and a loose flange disc. As a result, this single-row cylindrical roller bearing can accommodate not only high radial forces but also axial loads from both directions. It guides the shaft in its axial position and limits axial displacement within the bearing assembly.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 110 mm, an outside diameter of 200 mm and a width of 38 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised main dimensions of the NUP222 series. When designing the assembly, sufficient installation space must be allowed for the open roller bearing and the lubrication supply.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This increased clearance between the cylindrical rollers and the raceways helps to prevent the bearing from becoming prematurely stressed when heated or in tight fits. This promotes smooth running under thermal stress.
The cage, marked M1, is made of brass and keeps the rolling elements spaced apart. Brass is a material with high mechanical stability. This makes this type of cage suitable for operating conditions involving vibration, shocks or varying load directions.
This bearing is manufactured as an open design without sealing washers. The lubricant reaches the rolling elements directly. To protect against contamination and moisture, an external seal is required as part of the housing design, for example in the form of radial shaft seals or labyrinth seals.
The NUP222 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is specified for an operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. Both the rolling elements and the brass cage are designed for this temperature range. The lubricant used should be suitable for these operating temperatures.
