FAG single-row cylindrical roller bearing NUP204 -E-XL-TVP2-C3, designed as a fixed bearing with a 20 mm bore, a polyamide cage and increased C3 clearance.
The NUP204 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing from FAG is a single-row rolling bearing designed for high radial loads. Thanks to the NUP design with a flange, the bearing functions as a fixed bearing and, in addition to the main load, also accommodates axial forces in both directions. With its compact dimensions of 20 mm inner diameter, 47 mm outer diameter and 14 mm width, the open bearing integrates seamlessly into lubricated gearbox and machine housings. The flexible polyamide cage ensures low-vibration operation within a temperature range of -30 to +120 °C.
The NUP204 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is used where shafts are subjected to high radial loads and, at the same time, precise axial guidance in both directions is required. Typical applications include gearbox shafts and industrial drives in general mechanical engineering. As the component is of an open design, operation requires a protected installation environment with circulating lubricating oil or an external grease supply. The tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) ensures smooth concentricity.
This designation describes important functional characteristics for precise operation. C3 stands for a slightly increased radial bearing clearance, meaning the bearing has greater radial play than the standard version. This helps to prevent the rollers from becoming stressed due to operational heating or tight fits. The polyamide cage (TVP2) guides the rollers quietly and is characterised by its low weight. The open system is designed for ambient temperatures between -30 and +120 °C.
The cylindrical roller bearing has a bore of 20 mm, an outer diameter of 47 mm and a width of 14 mm. These standardised dimensions allow for direct replacement in existing bearing assemblies. Designed as a single-row fixed bearing, the component transmits radial loads and guides the shaft axially in both directions.
NUP-type bearings have two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange and one loose flange disc on the inner ring. This design enables the cylindrical roller bearing to act as a fixed bearing. It guides the shaft in both axial directions and also absorbs high radial forces, thereby keeping the shaft fixed in the axial direction.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard value. This additional clearance between the cylindrical rollers and the raceways is advantageous when temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation. This ensures that the bearing continues to run smoothly even in the event of operational thermal expansion of the shaft or in the case of tight fits.
The suffix TVP2 denotes a polyamide window cage. Compared with metal cages, the plastic cage offers the advantages of low mass, good damping properties and quiet operation. It is suitable for dynamic applications within the permissible operating range of -30 to +120 °C.
The cylindrical roller bearing does not have integrated sealing washers, as it is designed for installation in sealed housings with external lubrication. Open bearings allow for the unimpeded exchange of lubricant, whether oil or grease. They require the surrounding structure to have effective housing seals to prevent the ingress of contaminants.
The component is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN, which corresponds to ABEC 1 classification. This class specifies the permissible dimensional and running tolerances for the inner and outer rings. It offers the concentricity that has proven itself in general mechanical engineering and ensures a defined fit on the shaft.
