The FAG NJ324 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 120 x 260 x 55 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity and single-sided axial guidance.
The NJ324 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing manufactured by FAG for heavy mechanical loads. In the NJ design, the bearing has two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This makes it suitable as a support bearing that absorbs radial forces and limits axial displacement of the shaft in one direction. The inner ring can be removed from one side, which facilitates the assembly of the separate bearing rings.
This bearing is primarily used in applications that require the absorption of high radial forces whilst accommodating thermal linear expansion of the supported shaft. The integrated polyamide cage (TVP2) guides the cylindrical rollers quietly and is characterised by its low weight. As this is an open bearing, lubrication is provided by the surrounding structure.
The design with a slightly increased radial clearance (C3) compensates for operational heating or tight fits without the rolling elements becoming jammed. The permissible temperature range is between –30 and +120 degrees Celsius and corresponds to the thermal stability of the polyamide cage. As the outer ring is designed without a groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied from the side. Manufacture to tolerance class P0 or standard tolerance ensures installation in accordance with standards in standardised bearing seats.
An NJ-type thrust bearing primarily absorbs very high radial forces and guides the shaft axially in one direction. The two fixed shoulders on the outer ring and the single shoulder on the inner ring allow for displacement in the opposite direction, thereby compensating for thermal expansion of the shaft.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 120 mm, an outside diameter of 260 mm and a width of 55 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into housings and onto suitable shafts.
The designation C3 indicates a radial bearing clearance that is slightly greater than the standard. This additional clearance reduces the risk of the rolling elements becoming stressed if temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings during operation, or if tight fits reduce the bearing clearance.
The designation TVP2 refers to a polyamide cage. This material reduces the inertial forces of the rotating parts, ensures quiet operation and is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
As the cylindrical roller bearing has no integrated seals and the outer ring is designed without a groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant must be supplied via the installation environment. Suitable lubricating oil or grease is supplied to the rolling element set via external lubrication devices on the housing.
In this bearing, the inner ring is designed to be removable from one side. This feature allows the inner ring and outer ring, together with the roller set, to be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing, which simplifies the assembly process.
