The FAG NJ317 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 85 × 180 × 41 mm, offers high radial load capacity and single-sided axial guidance.
The FAG NJ317 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and the raceways, this design can accommodate high radial loads. The design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. As a result, the bearing functions as a classic support bearing, which precisely guides a shaft in one axial direction whilst allowing axial displacement in the opposite direction to compensate for thermal length changes.
This bearing type is primarily used in bearing arrangements where, in addition to high radial forces, unilateral axial guiding forces are also present. The inner ring can be removed from one side for assembly, which significantly facilitates separate pressing onto the shaft and housing. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals and without a groove or lubrication bore in the outer ring, the lubricant and external housing seal can be precisely tailored to the specific operating environment.
The polyamide cage (TVP2) guides the cylindrical rollers quietly and helps to reduce friction during rotational movements. The slightly increased radial clearance (C3) helps to ensure that sufficient radial operating clearance remains even with tight fits or heat build-up during operation. The specified operating temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees. Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, the component meets the standard accuracy requirements in general mechanical engineering.
As a single-row thrust bearing with a polyamide cage and increased clearance (C3), this design can withstand high radial loads and guide shafts in the axial direction. With a bore of 85 mm, an outside diameter of 180 mm and a width of 41 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions.
A characteristic feature of this design is the presence of two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the bearing to absorb axial forces from one direction, whilst the inner ring remains free to move in the opposite direction. This facilitates the compensation of operational shaft expansion.
Bearing clearance class C3 provides greater radial clearance between the rollers and the raceway than the standard clearance class. This additional clearance prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed when tight shaft fits cause the inner ring to expand or when temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings.
A polyamide cage, designated TVP2, is characterised by its low weight, damping properties and low-vibration operation. It is guided by the rolling elements. The permissible temperature range for this design is between -30 and +120 degrees.
As there are no integrated sealing washers and no lubrication channel in the outer ring, lubrication is achieved by directly applying lubricant during assembly. Both grease and lubricating oil can be used. External housing seals retain the lubricant within the bearing and protect against contamination.
The component is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 specification. This classification reliably meets the standard accuracy requirements in general mechanical engineering and industrial drive technology.
