The FAG NJ310 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing (50x110x27 mm) can accommodate high radial loads and serves as a support bearing with single-sided axial guidance.
The FAG NJ310 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, this design can handle high radial forces. Designed as an open bearing, the component can be flexibly integrated into existing lubrication circuits. The lightweight polyamide cage ensures smooth running. With key dimensions of 50 mm bore diameter, 110 mm outer diameter and 27 mm width, the model complies with current standardisation in accordance with tolerance class P0/PN.
In bearing arrangements subject to high radial forces, this design is used to accommodate heavy radial loads. The NJ design acts as a support bearing: it guides the shaft in one axial direction whilst compensating for changes in the shaft’s length in the opposite direction. This allows thermal longitudinal expansion to be accommodated without internal stresses. In combination with a suitable mating bearing, designers can thus create a statically determined bearing arrangement for machine components subject to thermal stress.
The increased radial clearance (C3) compensates for dimensional changes caused by tight fits on the shaft and housing or by temperature differences during operation. This helps to prevent the rolling elements from becoming jammed. The polyamide cage (TVP2) is characterised by its low mass and damping properties. This makes the bearing suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees. The classification in tolerance class ABEC 1 or P0 defines the standardised dimensional accuracy for general mechanical engineering.
With a bore of 50 mm, an outside diameter of 110 mm and a width of 27 mm, this single-row bearing has standardised key dimensions. These dimensions allow for direct mounting on suitable shaft seats. The outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, so the lubricant should be supplied via the adjacent structure.
In the NJ design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has only one flange. This allows the inner ring to be removed from one side, which simplifies installation. At the same time, the bearing can support axial forces from one direction and acts as a support bearing with limited displacement in the opposite direction.
Radial bearing clearance refers to the radial play of the rollers when the bearing is unloaded. Class C3 exceeds the standard clearance group and reduces the risk of the roller elements becoming jammed when tight fits cause the rings to expand or contract. It also accommodates dimensional changes caused by significant temperature differences between the inner and outer rings during continuous operation.
The polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers whilst keeping its own weight to a minimum. The lower mass reduces centrifugal forces at higher speeds. At the same time, the plastic helps to dampen noise and vibrations. The cage is designed for use in temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
As the NJ310 model is manufactured without integrated sealing washers, the surrounding components determine the sealing arrangement. In enclosed housings, lubricating oil is usually used to supply the lubricant. When operating with grease, a suitable housing seal is recommended to limit the ingress of contaminants and keep the lubricant within the bearing chamber.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees. These limits are determined by the specifications of the bearing with a polyamide cage and the dimensional stability of the rings. When selecting a lubricant, users should ensure that its thermal operating window also fully covers this range.
