The SKF NJ305 ECP cylindrical roller bearing offers high radial load capacity with a 25 mm bore, 62 mm outer diameter and 17 mm width.
The NJ305 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing belonging to SKF’s Explorer performance class. Thanks to the line contact between the rollers and the raceway, the design can accommodate high radial loads. This model is an open bearing without an integrated seal. This allows lubricants to reach the contact surfaces unhindered, whilst the polyamide cage guides the rollers. The optimised internal design supports even load distribution during operation.
The bearing is primarily used as a support bearing in industrial shaft mountings where high radial forces occur. The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This allows the bearing to lock a shaft axially in one direction, whilst permitting axial displacement in the opposite direction. Typical applications include mechanical engineering bearing arrangements operating at temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
The combination of a split design and the choice of material facilitates installation and operation. As the inner ring can be removed from one side, the bearing rings are fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. The integrated polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight and runs with minimal vibration. In terms of precision, this design combines dimensional accuracy to P0 or ABEC 1 with higher running accuracy to Class P6 or ABEC 3.
The designation ‘NJ’ refers to cylindrical roller bearings with two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one flange on the inner ring. This design acts as a support bearing. It absorbs axial forces in one direction and allows axial displacement of the shaft in the opposite direction.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 25 mm, an outer diameter of 62 mm and a width of 17 mm. Thanks to these standardised dimensions, the roller bearing fits into standardised housing bores and onto corresponding shaft seats in mechanical engineering.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees. The temperature limits are determined by the dimensional stability of the rings and the polyamide material of the cage. Within this range, the bearing continues to function as intended in its intended field of application.
The bearing has standard radial clearance for typical operating and fit conditions. The dimensional accuracy corresponds to the ‘Normal’ tolerance class (P0 or ABEC 1), whilst the running accuracy corresponds to the finer P6 class (ABEC 3).
The inner ring, which can be removed from one side, allows the outer and inner rings to be fitted separately. This simplifies installation in the housing and on the shaft, particularly in the case of tight fits or bearing seats that are difficult to access within machinery.
As an open bearing without its own sealing washers, the product requires lubrication via the surrounding machinery. Depending on the application, you can operate the bearing using grease or lubricating oil; however, the housing should be sealed to prevent the ingress of dirt.
