FAG NJ2320 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing: Single-row support bearing with brass cage, C3 clearance and main dimensions of 100 x 215 x 73 mm.
The FAG NJ2320 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, as a radial rolling bearing, withstands high radial loads. Thanks to the line contact between the rollers and the raceway, this design offers high radial rigidity. The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This allows the bearing to support the shaft in one axial direction, whilst axial displacement in the opposite direction remains possible. The inner ring can be removed from one side, which facilitates the separate assembly of both bearing rings.
This single-row cylindrical roller bearing is designed for bearing arrangements subject to high radial loads. In the design, the NJ type is specifically intended as a support bearing to guide shafts radially and accommodate unilateral axial forces. As the outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied from the side via the housing cavity. Thanks to its open design, the component is suitable for enclosed housings with a lubricating oil or grease supply provided by the customer.
The brass cage guides the cylindrical rollers and is resistant to vibrations and high acceleration forces. In combination with the slightly increased radial bearing clearance (C3), this design helps to ensure that rotational freedom is maintained even when operational heating or tight fits reduce the internal bearing clearance. A permissible temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees is specified for use. The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
The bearing has a bore diameter of 100 mm, an outside diameter of 215 mm and a width of 73 mm. These dimensions define the required installation space on the shaft and in the housing seat.
In the NJ design, the outer ring has two solid flanges, whilst the inner ring has one solid flange. The bearing thus serves as a support bearing. In addition to high radial forces, it also accommodates axial loads from one direction and allows axial displacement in the opposite direction.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This provides compensation when temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings, or when tight fits on the shaft and housing reduce the internal clearance after press-fitting.
The brass cage is characterised by high mechanical dimensional stability and strength. It reliably guides the rollers in applications involving dynamic loads, vibrations or varying speeds.
This cylindrical roller bearing from FAG is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. When selecting the lubricant, designers must ensure that it is suitable for the operating temperatures encountered at the bearing location.
As an open roller bearing, the NJ2320 design has no integrated seals and no lubrication bore in the outer ring. The bearing requires the housing to be sealed externally to prevent contamination and is supplied with grease or lubricating oil via the machine’s lubrication system.
