The FAG NJ2316 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with an 80 mm bore, offers high radial load-carrying capacity and axial length compensation when used as a support bearing.
The NJ2316 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from FAG designed for demanding industrial applications. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, the design can withstand heavy radial loads. With an outer diameter of 170 mm and a width of 58 mm, the bearing is suitable for mechanically stressed shaft guides where installation space stability and precise running characteristics are required.
Its main area of application is in shaft mountings subject to high radial loads, where axial length changes must be compensated for. The NJ design acts as a support bearing in this context: it absorbs radial loads and guides the shaft in one axial direction, whilst allowing for axial displacement in the opposite direction. Furthermore, the inner ring can be removed from one side, which facilitates assembly and disassembly separately from the outer ring.
The TVP2 polyamide cage ensures flexible roller guidance with low weight and smooth running within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. The increased C3 radial clearance compensates for thermal expansion or tight fits without the bearing becoming stressed during operation. As the design is open and the outer ring has no lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied directly via the housing system.
The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the bearing to function as a support bearing. In addition to predominantly radial forces, it also absorbs axial guidance forces from one direction, whilst allowing axial displacement in the opposite direction.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 80 mm, an external diameter of 170 mm and a width of 58 mm. These dimensions comply with the standardised specifications for the 2316 series and ensure a precise fit when installed in standardised bearing housings and shaft seats.
The suffix C3 indicates increased radial clearance compared with the standard CN design. This additional radial clearance prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed should temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings during operation, or should tight fit allowances cause the bore to narrow.
The designation TVP2 refers to a solid polyamide cage. This material is characterised by low friction, good free-running properties and a low moment of inertia. It is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees and contributes to quiet operation.
As the bearing is designed without integrated sealing washers and the outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, oil or grease is supplied via the surrounding housing structure. External seals at the connection point protect the raceways from the ingress of dirt and the loss of lubricant.
This roller bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0 or PN, which corresponds to ABEC Class 1. This precision class meets the majority of industrial requirements in mechanical and plant engineering, ensuring reliable dimensional accuracy in the mating dimensions.
