The FAG single-row cylindrical roller bearing NJ2316 -E-XL-TVP2 (80x170x58 mm) withstands high radial loads and serves as a support bearing with single-sided axial guidance.
This open cylindrical roller bearing NJ2316 -E-XL-TVP2 from FAG is designed for demanding industrial applications involving heavy radial loads. Thanks to its robust construction, the roller bearing can withstand considerable transverse forces. As a single-row bearing with a removable inner ring, it facilitates the separate installation of the inner and outer rings. You can integrate the bearing assembly directly into your machine’s existing lubrication system.
The NJ design functions as a support bearing during operation. The outer ring has two solid flanges, whilst the inner ring has one solid flange. As a result, the roller bearing transmits not only very high radial forces but also axial guidance forces from one direction. In the opposite direction, the design allows for axial length compensation of the shaft. Typical applications include bearing arrangements with high radial loads, where axial length changes in the shaft need to be compensated for without restriction.
The suffix TVP2 denotes the version with a polyamide cage. This cage guides the cylindrical rollers precisely and is characterised by its low weight and elastic properties. Compared with solid metal cages, the plastic cage reduces inertial forces during rapid speed changes and operates with low vibration. The bearing covers an operating temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees, meaning it meets the requirements of standard lubricating oils and greases used in mechanical engineering.
The main dimensions are 80 mm bore diameter, 170 mm outside diameter and 58 mm width. Thanks to this design, the bearing can withstand high radial forces for a given shaft diameter and can be fitted into appropriately dimensioned housings and shaft seats.
The abbreviation NJ defines the flange arrangement of the bearing rings. The outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has one fixed flange. The component therefore acts as a thrust bearing. It absorbs axial forces in one direction and allows axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing in the opposite direction.
As an open bearing, this design has no integrated sealing washers. This allows the lubricant – such as lubricating oil via a circulation system or grease from the housing – to reach the raceways and rollers unhindered. The surrounding housing structure of the machine provides protection against contamination and moisture.
The bearing has standard radial clearance (often referred to as CN). This clearance is designed for standard fit selections on the shaft and housing, as well as for normal operating temperatures. After press-fitting, a controlled radial clearance remains, which prevents the rollers from seizing up during operation.
The inner ring can be completely separated from the rest of the roller and outer ring assembly. This makes installation and removal much easier in day-to-day workshop operations. You can fit both rings onto the shaft and into the housing bore independently of one another before joining the components together when assembling the machine.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees. This range is limited at the upper end by the material of the polyamide cage. During operation, care must be taken to ensure that the selected lubricant also retains its lubricating properties within this temperature range.
