The FAG NJ2312 -E-XL-M1A-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, a single-row support bearing with a 60 mm bore, offers high radial load-carrying capacity and axial guidance properties.
This single-row cylindrical roller bearing, the NJ2312 -E-XL-M1A-C3 from FAG, absorbs heavy radial forces thanks to the line contact between the rolling elements. The open roller bearing has a bore of 60 mm, an outer diameter of 130 mm and a width of 46 mm. The NJ design acts as a support bearing: it guides the shaft in an axial direction, whilst the inner ring remains removable on one side for installation purposes. The component is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
This design is primarily used in shaft mountings where significant radial loads are present and the bearing is also required to accommodate one-sided axial forces. As the outer ring is designed without a lubrication groove or bore, lubricant is supplied via the housing design. The solid, externally guided brass cage withstands high accelerations and is suitable for applications involving vibrations or shock loads.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance compensates for operational heating or tight fits, ensuring that the rollers roll freely during operation. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +150 degrees. The solid brass cage, which is mounted on the outside, guides the rolling elements stably under dynamic loads. As this is an open design without seals, sealing is provided by adjacent components of the surrounding structure.
With an internal diameter of 60 mm, an external diameter of 130 mm and a width of 46 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions for this size. These dimensions determine the installation space on the shaft and within the bearing housing.
In the NJ configuration, the bearing has two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables it to accommodate both radial forces and axial forces from one direction. The inner ring can be removed from one side, which makes installation and removal easier.
With a radial clearance of C3, the bearing has a slightly higher radial clearance than the standard value. This feature prevents stress build-up when the radial operating clearance decreases due to temperature differences between the inner and outer rings or due to tight fits.
The letter M denotes a solid brass cage, whilst 1A refers to the guide on the outer edge. Thanks to this guide and the brass material, the cage exhibits high strength when subjected to rapid changes in speed or vibrational loads.
The permissible temperature range is between -30 and +150 degrees. Within these limits, the bearing will operate correctly, provided that the lubricant used is suitable for the relevant operating temperature.
This model is designed as an open bearing and has neither cover plates nor sealing washers. Protection against dirt particles and the retention of lubricant must therefore be provided by external seals on the adjacent structure.
