The SKF NJ2309 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 45x100x36 mm, withstands high radial loads and serves as a single-sided support bearing.
The NJ2309 ECP cylindrical roller bearing combines a high-load-carrying cylindrical roller geometry with a compact design for shaft diameters of 45 mm. As an open, single-row rolling bearing in the SKF Explorer series, the design features an optimised internal structure. Two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring enable the bearing to accommodate axial forces from one direction. As a result, the NJ series is specifically designed to support shaft guides that must carry not only primary radial loads but also single-sided axial forces.
Users employ this bearing arrangement in shaft systems subject to high radial operating forces and with single-sided axial fixation. As the inner ring is removable from one side, the unit can be fitted separately. In the event of axial thermal expansion of the shaft, the design allows for displacement in one direction, whilst the opposite direction remains positively supported. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The suffix ECP denotes a polyamide cage and optimised roller guidance. This cage reduces the weight of the rolling element guidance and promotes smooth running under normal operating conditions. The bearing has the standard radial clearance and features dimensional accuracy to P0/PN (ABEC 1) as well as running accuracy to P6 (ABEC 3). The outer ring is designed without a groove or lubrication bore, so that lubrication is supplied via the surrounding housing.
The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. As a result, the cylindrical roller bearing absorbs radial forces and provides axial support for the shaft in one direction. The shaft can move in the opposite direction.
The bearing has a bore of 45 mm, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a width of 36 mm. These dimensions correspond to the metric size series for single-row cylindrical roller bearings.
At SKF, the abbreviation ECP stands for an optimised internal design combined with a polyamide cage. This design combines a reduced cage weight with precise guidance of the cylindrical rolling elements.
This model is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. This bearing clearance is suitable for standard operating conditions without unusually high temperature differences between the inner and outer rings or extremely tight fits.
This cylindrical roller bearing is designed as an open bearing without integrated sealing washers. It is therefore necessary to use external sealing elements in the bearing housing to provide protection against dirt and moisture and to retain the lubricant.
The permissible temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. The built-in polyamide cage defines the upper thermal limit for continuous operation within this range.
