The single-row cylindrical roller bearing NJ2308 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 from FAG (40x90x33 mm) can withstand high radial loads and acts as an axial support bearing.
The NJ2308 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from FAG with the main dimensions of 40 mm bore, 90 mm outer diameter and 33 mm width. As a support bearing, this design accommodates very high radial forces and also guides the shaft axially in one direction. The design features an inner ring that can be removed from one side, which simplifies the assembly of the individual components. The design is intended for industrial drives and gearbox constructions.
This design is primarily used where heavy radial forces occur and shafts need to be guided axially on one side. The line contact of the cylindrical rollers provides high load-carrying capacity and rigidity. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering for bearing arrangements with combined guidance functions. Thanks to the axial displacement in one direction, the bearing compensates for operational length changes in the shaft without causing stress in the rolling element area.
The TVP2 version features a lightweight polyamide cage, which ensures smooth running and low friction. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The increased radial clearance (C3) provides additional leeway in the event of heating or tight fits. It should be noted that this open bearing, which has no integrated seal, requires external sealing as well as a lubricant supply from the bearing environment.
The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the bearing to support axial loads in one direction. In the opposite direction, the design allows for axial displacement. Furthermore, the inner ring can be removed from one side during assembly, which facilitates the separate fitting of the shaft and housing.
This cylindrical roller bearing has an inner diameter of 40 mm, an outer diameter of 90 mm and a width across flats of 33 mm. With a tolerance class of P0 or ABEC 1, the bearing meets the standard requirements for dimensional and concentricity accuracy in mechanical engineering.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional internal clearance between the rollers and raceways prevents the bearing from seizing up when it heats up during operation or due to tight fits. It is therefore particularly recommended where there are temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
The TVP2 polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight. The material operates quietly and reduces inertial forces during dynamic speed changes. It is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Thanks to the material’s inherent elasticity, the cage absorbs impact loads elastically.
The bearing is designed as an open roller bearing and has neither cover plates nor sealing rings. The outer ring also has no groove or lubrication bore. Lubricants such as oil or grease must therefore be supplied directly via the housing. To prevent the ingress of dirt or moisture, an external seal must be incorporated into the housing design.
The bearing complies with the standard tolerance class P0 (corresponding to PN and ABEC 1). This manufacturing accuracy covers the vast majority of standard industrial applications where there are no extreme high-precision requirements regarding concentricity or parallelism. It ensures a precise fit when installed on shafts and housing bores machined to standard specifications.
