The NJ2220 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 100 × 180 × 46 mm, serves as a support bearing designed to accommodate high radial loads and unilateral axial loads.
The FAG NJ2220 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed to withstand high radial loads. As a support bearing of the NJ design, the inner ring guides the cylindrical rollers via a fixed flange and can be removed from one side. This allows for axial displacement in one direction. With a bore of 100 mm, an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width of 46 mm, this bearing is suitable for demanding industrial applications.
This cylindrical roller bearing is particularly suitable for bearing positions in general mechanical engineering where high radial loads occur. As it is a support bearing, it absorbs not only the dominant radial forces but also axial guidance forces from one direction. The solid brass cage guides the rolling elements precisely and is designed for continuous operation. Thanks to its permissible temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees, the bearing copes with a wide range of thermal conditions.
The bearing has an open design without an integrated seal and an outer ring without a lubrication groove or bore. Lubrication and sealing must therefore be provided by the surrounding structure. As the inner ring can be removed from one side, the inner and outer rings can be mounted separately on the shaft and housing. The bearing has the standard radial clearance and a tolerance class of P0/PN or ABEC 1, which ensures smooth running during normal operation.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 100 mm, an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width of 46 mm. These dimensions determine the space required on the shaft and in the housing bore in the design.
The NJ design is characterised by two fixed shoulders on the outer ring and one fixed shoulder on the inner ring. This enables the component to function as a support bearing: in addition to high radial forces, it also absorbs axial forces in one direction, whilst allowing axial displacement in the opposite direction.
The brass cage keeps the single-row cylindrical rollers at a uniform distance apart and prevents the rolling elements from coming into direct contact with one another. Brass is suitable for use at temperatures up to +150 degrees and can withstand dynamic loads during continuous industrial operation.
The model is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (equivalent to ABEC 1), which corresponds to the standard precision class for industrial applications. The bearing clearance is the standard radial bearing clearance, designed for standard fits and typical operating temperatures.
The roller bearing is specified for use within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. Within these limits, the bearing rings and the brass cage retain their dimensional stability, provided that the selected lubricant is suitable for the respective operating temperature.
As the cylindrical roller bearing is of open design and the outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, lubricant must be applied directly into the bearing housing. Depending on the design, the bearing arrangement requires external lubrication as well as suitable housing seals to prevent the ingress of contaminants.
