The FAG NJ2220 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 100x180x46 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity and axial guidance in one direction.
The NJ2220 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing for industrial applications. With a bore of 100 mm, an outside diameter of 180 mm and a width of 46 mm, the design accommodates heavy radial loads. As a support bearing, it guides the shaft axially in one direction, whilst the inner ring remains removable from one side. FAG manufactures this version with a lightweight polyamide cage and in tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
This design is used in bearing arrangements that require one-sided axial guidance in addition to high radial forces. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, the bearing can accommodate high transverse forces. The NJ design acts as a support bearing in this context: it supports axial forces acting from one side. In the opposite direction, the bearing assembly allows for axial displacement, thereby compensating for thermal length changes in the shaft without causing mechanical stress.
The polyamide cage (TVP2) is characterised by its low mass, elasticity and smooth running. In combination with the slightly increased radial bearing clearance C3, the bearing is suitable for operating conditions involving heat build-up or tight fits. This prevents the rollers from seizing up due to thermal expansion. The open bearing without a seal is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees and can be flexibly integrated into existing lubrication systems.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 100 mm, an external diameter of 180 mm and a width of 46 mm. These standardised dimensions, in accordance with tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), enable a precise fit when installed in housing bores and on corresponding shaft seats in mechanical and plant engineering.
The NJ type has two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the component to act as a thrust bearing: it withstands high radial forces and guides the shaft axially in one direction. As the inner ring can be removed from one side, the bearing can be fitted separately.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This increased internal clearance between the rollers and the raceway compensates for radial fit allowances and for temperature differences between the inner and outer rings caused by operation. The increased bearing clearance prevents undesirable stresses during operation.
The TVP2 cage is made of polyamide, which is characterised by its low weight and good damping properties. It guides the cylindrical rollers quietly and with low friction. The material is designed for the bearing’s specified operating range of -30 to +120 degrees.
No, it is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers. Furthermore, the outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore. Sealing against dirt and moisture, as well as the supply of lubricant, must be provided by the surrounding housing structure.
The cylindrical roller bearing is approved for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. This range is determined by the dimensional stability of the rolling bearing components and the temperature limits of the polyamide cage. The lubricant selected should be suitable for these thermal operating conditions.
