The FAG NJ2218 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 single-row cylindrical roller bearing, with a 90 mm bore and C3 clearance, provides support for high radial forces.
The NJ2218 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. Thanks to the line contact between the rollers and raceways, this design can accommodate high radial loads. As an open bearing, the bearing assembly can be flexibly integrated into existing lubrication circuits using oil or grease. The design is from FAG and has external dimensions of 90 mm inside diameter, 160 mm outside diameter and a width of 40 mm.
The NJ design functions as a support bearing to guide the shaft in an axial direction. The outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has one fixed flange. As a result, the bearing transmits axial forces on one side, whilst the inner ring remains removable for installation. Typical applications include industrial bearings subject to high radial forces where axial support is required.
The designation TVP2 indicates a polyamide cage. This cage is characterised by its low weight and contributes to the quiet running of the cylindrical rollers. The suffix C3 denotes a radial clearance that is slightly greater than the standard clearance. This clearance compensates for thermal expansion during operation or tight fits on the shaft and housing, without the rolling elements becoming stressed.
The single-row bearing is designed with a 90 mm bore, a 160 mm outer diameter and a width of 40 mm. It is an open design without seals. As the outer ring is manufactured without a groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied via the surrounding housing structure.
The NJ thrust bearing design is characterised by two solid flanges on the outer ring and one solid flange on the inner ring. The bearing supports the shaft in the axial direction. The inner ring can be displaced in the opposite direction and withdrawn from the unit for separate assembly.
The suffix TVP2 denotes a polyamide cage that guides the cylindrical rollers. Compared with metal versions, the polyamide material reduces the moving mass and contributes to favourable friction coefficients and quiet operation of the bearing.
An increased radial bearing clearance in accordance with Class C3 compensates for temperature differences between the inner and outer rings caused by operation. Furthermore, the increased operating clearance provides compensatory clearance in the case of tight fits on the shaft or in the housing, in order to prevent the rolling elements from becoming over-constrained.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The thermal operating limits for this open roller bearing depend largely on the material of the polyamide cage and the suitability of the lubricating oil or grease used.
The requirements of tolerance classes P0 and PN in accordance with ISO, as well as the ABEC 1 classification, are met. This defines the standardised range of accuracy for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy in industrial roller bearings.
