The SKF NJ2210 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 50x90x23 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity and axial guidance in one direction.
The NJ2210 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing in the SKF Explorer design for demanding industrial applications. Thanks to its cylindrical rollers, the design can withstand very high radial loads. The open bearing has an inner ring with a flange on one side, whilst the outer ring is flanged on both sides. This design enables the unit to function as a support bearing, guiding shafts in one axial direction and compensating for length changes in the opposite direction.
Typical applications are found in mechanical engineering at bearing locations where heavy radial loads are present and the shaft must be axially guided on one side. As the inner ring is removable, the shaft and housing can be fitted separately. The permissible operating temperature range extends from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius, covering a wide variety of environmental conditions.
The designation letter ‘P’ indicates that a polyamide cage is fitted. This material is characterised by its low weight, which reduces inertial forces during operation and promotes quiet, low-friction running. The bearing features a standard radial clearance and an optimised internal geometry. Furthermore, this design combines dimensional accuracy to Class P0 or ABEC 1 with increased running accuracy to Class P6 or ABEC 3 for precise concentricity.
The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the bearing to accommodate not only heavy radial forces but also axial forces in one direction. In the opposite direction, it allows for axial displacement of the shaft, thereby enabling thermal expansion to be compensated for without constraint.
The bearing has a bore diameter of 50 mm, an outer diameter of 90 mm and a width of 23 mm. The outer ring is smooth, meaning it has neither a ring groove nor a lubrication bore. Please check these mounting dimensions before fitting the bearing in its housing.
Dimensional accuracy complies with the standard classes Normal or P0 and ABEC 1. For running accuracy, the tighter tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3 applies. This classification ensures precise concentricity and is suitable for industrial bearing assemblies with high performance requirements.
At SKF, this combination of letters stands for two key design features: the ‘E’ denotes an optimised internal design for improved load transfer, whilst ‘CP’ refers to the lightweight polyamide cage. This design reduces inertial forces and helps to minimise heat build-up.
As the bearing is supplied without integrated sealing washers, grease or lubricating oil is supplied via the housing design. In the case of open roller bearings, an external housing seal is required to minimise lubricant loss and prevent dirt particles from entering the raceway.
The approved operating range extends from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. This range is largely determined by the polyamide cage. When designing the bearing assembly, the thermal load during continuous operation should remain within these limits in order to prevent material fatigue in the cage.
