The FAG NJ2209 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 45x85x23 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity and single-sided axial guidance.
The FAG NJ2209 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. Due to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and the raceways, this design can accommodate high radial loads. The open bearing has an outer ring without a lubrication groove and an inner ring that can be removed from one side. This facilitates the separate installation of both bearing rings.
This rolling bearing is designed to function as a support bearing. In addition to dominant radial forces, the NJ version absorbs axial forces from one direction via fixed flanges. In the opposite direction, the design allows for axial displacement of the shaft within the bearing. This model is used in shaft mountings where thermal expansion needs to be compensated for and, at the same time, defined axial guidance in one direction is required.
The design suffix TVP2 denotes a polyamide cage, which ensures quiet running and low friction. In combination with the lubricant, the design is rated for a temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees. The increased radial clearance (C3) compensates for operational heating or tight fits without the rollers seizing prematurely. As this is an open bearing, sealing is provided by the surrounding structure.
The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This makes the bearing suitable for use as a support bearing: it withstands high radial loads and guides the shaft axially in one direction. In the opposite direction, the bearing compensates for axial changes in length without restriction.
The cylindrical roller bearing has a bore diameter of 45 mm, an outer diameter of 85 mm and a width of 23 mm. These dimensions allow for a precise fit when installed in appropriately sized housings and bearing seats.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with standard bearings. This additional clearance between the rollers and raceways counteracts stress when tight shaft fits cause the inner ring to expand or when temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings during operation.
The TVP2 cage is made of polyamide and guides the low-mass rollers. The material absorbs shocks, operates quietly and promotes favourable friction characteristics with both grease and oil lubrication. The permissible operating temperature range for the bearing is between -30 and +120 degrees.
As an open bearing, this model has neither cover plates nor sealing discs and does not feature a lubrication bore in the outer ring. The supply of grease or lubricating oil, as well as protection against the ingress of particles, must be provided entirely by external seals and the lubricant guide of the surrounding housing.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. This precision class meets the requirements of general mechanical engineering and ensures a precise fit when fitted to standard bearing units.
