The FAG NJ203 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 17x40x12 mm, with a polyamide cage and C3 clearance, offers a high-load-capacity solution for radial guidance.
The NJ203 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing designed for demanding mechanical assemblies. Thanks to the line contact between the rollers and raceways, this design can withstand high radial loads. The manufacturer, FAG, equips this variant with the increased radial clearance C3 and a lightweight polyamide cage. As an open roller bearing without sealing washers, the unit integrates seamlessly into existing lubrication systems.
This roller bearing acts as a support bearing in gearboxes and shaft guides. It guides the shaft in the radial direction and, thanks to two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring, absorbs axial forces from one direction. The inner ring can be removed from one side, allowing axial displacements of the shaft in the opposite direction to be compensated for. The bearing serves to compensate for thermal length changes in the supported shaft.
The version with the suffix TVP2 features a dimensionally stable polyamide cage, which guides the rollers and keeps the moment of inertia of the bearing assembly low. In combination with the slightly increased radial clearance (C3), this design helps to prevent the rolling elements from becoming stressed due to oversize fits or heating. The permissible temperature range extends from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius, enabling a wide variety of operating conditions.
A characteristic feature of the NJ design is two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the unit to function as a support bearing that absorbs radial forces and supports axial loads in one direction. In the opposite direction, the inner ring can be moved axially, which facilitates installation and allows for axial displacement.
With an internal diameter of 17 mm, an external diameter of 40 mm and a width of 12 mm, the bearing complies with standardised key dimensions. It has a single-row design. The outer ring is designed without a groove or lubrication bore, so that the lubricant is supplied via the housing design.
The C3 bearing clearance provides greater radial clearance than standard bearing clearance. This clearance compensates for operational temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. Even with tight fits on the 17 mm shaft, this ensures that sufficient residual bearing clearance is maintained so that the cylindrical rollers can roll freely during operation.
In the case of the TVP2 model, the cage is made of polyamide, which helps to keep the weight of the rotating parts low. The material dampens mechanical vibrations and is suitable for use with standard lubricating oils and greases within the approved temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The specified operating temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The polyamide cage fitted sets the upper thermal limit at this value. When designing the lubrication system, care must be taken to ensure that the selected lubricant retains its lubricating properties within this temperature range.
This bearing type is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 standard. This tolerance class specifies the permissible deviations for bore diameter, outer diameter and concentricity, and meets standard requirements for industrial bearings.
