The FAG NU2216 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 80 × 140 × 33 mm, is a floating bearing designed to accommodate high radial loads.
The FAG NU2216 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed to withstand high radial loads. Due to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and the raceways, this design can withstand higher radial forces than ball bearings of the same dimensions. As an open bearing, this variant requires an external lubricant supply via the housing as well as protection against contamination. It is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1).
This radial roller bearing serves as a non-locating bearing in shaft mountings subject to high radial forces and requiring axial length compensation. Due to the NU design, the inner ring has no flanges and can be axially displaced on both sides as well as removed completely. This enables the bearing to compensate for operational length changes in the shaft resulting from thermal expansion within the bearing. Furthermore, the separable design allows the inner and outer rings to be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing bore.
The designation TVP2 refers to a polyamide window cage which guides the cylindrical rollers and maintains a uniform spacing between them. Compared with solid metal cages, the lightweight polyamide material reduces inertial forces and promotes smooth running with low friction. Together with the standard radial bearing clearance, the bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. When designing the housing, it must be taken into account that the outer ring is designed without a lubrication groove.
The dimensions are 80 mm bore diameter, 140 mm outer diameter and 33 mm width. These key dimensions determine the installation space required on the shaft and within the housing bore.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges to guide the rollers, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be pulled out axially in both directions. The bearing accommodates radial forces only and functions purely as a non-locating bearing.
The polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight and damping properties. It reduces the moving inertial masses within the bearing, promotes smooth running and keeps friction at the contact surfaces to a minimum.
The standard radial bearing clearance is designed for typical mounting conditions and normal temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. There is no increased bearing clearance here, as is the case with C3 versions.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -30 degrees and +120 degrees. This range is essentially limited by the material of the polyamide cage and the resistance of the lubricant used.
As an open cylindrical roller bearing, this model is designed for installation in enclosed housings with external grease or oil lubrication. External housing seals provide protection against dirt and moisture.
