The FAG NU317 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with a bore of 85 mm and an outer diameter of 180 mm, can withstand high radial loads.
This single-row NU317 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing from FAG is designed for industrial applications involving purely radial force transmission. Thanks to the line contact between the rollers and raceways, the bearing can withstand high radial forces. This design features a polyamide cage and the extended clearance class C3. As an open component without integrated seals, the bearing fits directly into lubricated housing assemblies.
In radially loaded shaft mountings, the bearing is primarily used as a non-locating bearing. The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the flangeless inner ring can be removed from both sides. This allows the bearing to compensate internally for axial changes in shaft length caused by thermal expansion during operation. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The suffix TVP2 denotes a polyamide cage, which, due to its low weight, reduces inertial forces during changes in rotational speed. The C3 bearing clearance provides greater radial clearance than the standard CN version. This additional clearance helps to prevent the rollers from jamming when tight fits on the shaft or temperature differences between the inner and outer rings narrow the operating clearance. When designing the bearing, the standard tolerances according to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and an external lubrication supply must be taken into account.
With an internal diameter of 85 mm, an external diameter of 180 mm and a width of 41 mm, the bearing complies with standardised dimensions. These dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely onto suitable shaft journals and into standardised bearing housings.
The NU design denotes a thrust bearing with two fixed guide flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring. The inner ring can be removed from either side, which facilitates the separate assembly of both bearing rings and compensates for axial thermal expansion of the shaft within the bearing.
Bearing clearance class C3 offers greater radial bearing clearance than the standard version. This clearance is required when tight fits during press-fitting or operational temperature differences between the shaft and housing reduce the clearance during operation.
The TVP2 cage is made of polyamide and is characterised by its low weight and quiet operation. The material absorbs shock loads. The permissible temperature range for this version of the bearing is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius.
As an open roller bearing, this design has no integrated seals. The rolling element system requires an external housing seal and a continuous supply of lubricant – either grease or oil – to prevent wear and contamination.
The roller bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 standard. This standard tolerance meets the usual dimensional and concentricity requirements for standard applications in general mechanical engineering.
