The SKF NUP218 ECP single-row cylindrical roller bearing (90x160x30 mm) serves as a fixed bearing designed to accommodate high radial forces and axial loads in both directions.
The SKF NUP218 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is characterised by its optimised internal design in the Explorer version. As a single-row roller bearing with a bore of 90 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 30 mm, it is primarily designed to accommodate heavy radial loads. The integrated polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers with low noise and low friction. Thanks to its open design without a seal, the bearing can be integrated directly into existing lubrication circuits.
This rolling bearing is used in rotating industrial applications involving combined radial and axial loads. By design, the cylindrical roller configuration supports radial forces and, thanks to the NUP design, simultaneously withstands axial forces on both sides. Maintenance engineers and designers use this bearing for shaft guides where precise axial positioning is required. The permissible temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees enables operation in thermally demanding working environments within general mechanical engineering.
The NUP design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, as well as one fixed flange and one loose flange disc on the inner ring. As a result, this design functions as a fixed bearing and guides the shaft in both axial directions. The polyamide cage reduces the weight of the rolling element set and promotes smooth running. With standard radial clearance and a running accuracy of tolerance class P6, this model meets precise requirements for concentricity and dimensional accuracy.
The NUP design features a fixed bearing with two fixed flanges on the outer ring, one fixed flange on the inner ring and a loose flange disc. This design guides the shaft in both axial directions within the housing and, in addition to heavy radial loads, also accommodates limited axial forces.
This bearing has an inner diameter of 90 mm, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 30 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow for direct installation in standardised bearing housings. The outer ring is manufactured without an additional groove or lubrication bore.
The cylindrical roller bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees. The thermal limit is essentially determined by the polyamide cage fitted and the lubricant selected. To ensure correct operation, the lubrication must be suited to this operating range.
This classification combines dimensional accuracy in accordance with Class P0 or ABEC 1 with enhanced running accuracy in accordance with Class P6 or ABEC 3. As a result, the bearing achieves low radial runout, which improves smoothness of operation and reduces vibrations in rotating assemblies.
As an open bearing, this component has no integrated sealing washers. This design allows for a flexible supply of lubricant – grease or oil – via the surrounding housing structure. Effective external sealing against dirt and moisture is essential to protect the rolling elements.
The polyamide cage separates and guides the cylindrical rollers with low friction and dampens operating noise. The reduced weight minimises inertial forces during rapid changes in rotational speed. The material retains its shape within the specified temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
