The FAG NU207 -E-XL-M1A-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with a 35 mm bore and a solid brass cage, offers high radial load-carrying capacity for demanding industrial applications.
The NU207 -E-XL-M1A-C3 cylindrical roller bearing functions as a single-row radial roller bearing in a floating design. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and the raceways, this model can accommodate significant radial forces. FAG manufactures this version with a solid, externally guided brass cage and an increased clearance (C3). As an open bearing, the unit can be flexibly integrated into existing lubrication systems, whilst the removable inner ring facilitates the separate installation of the shaft and housing.
This roller bearing is specifically designed to accommodate purely radial loads at higher speeds and serves to compensate for axial length changes in the shaft. As a NU-type idler bearing, the component has two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring remains flangeless. This allows the shaft to move freely within the bearing in the event of thermal expansion. Typical applications include rigid shaft mountings subject to thermal expansion, as well as designs with separately mountable inner and outer rings.
The solid brass cage with external flanges (designation M1A) provides stable guidance for the rollers and withstands high accelerations and vibrations during operation. The increased radial clearance (C3) provides additional leeway for applications where temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings, or where tight fits cause the inner ring to expand. When designing the application, it must be borne in mind that the open bearing requires an external seal and a lubricant supply within the housing.
The designation NU identifies a cylindrical roller bearing as a non-locating bearing. The outer ring has two fixed retaining flanges to guide the rollers, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be removed from either side. This design enables the shaft to compensate for thermally induced changes in length directly within the bearing, without causing internal stresses.
The component has an internal diameter of 35 mm at the cylindrical bore. The outer diameter is 72 mm, with a standardised width of 17 mm. With these dimensions, the bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and fits into standardised bearing seats for this size.
The brass cage, designated M1A, is a solid component and is guided on the outer ring. Compared with simple sheet metal cages, solid brass withstands higher dynamic loads, vibrations and high speeds. The guidance on the outer rim stabilises the movement of the rolling elements even during rapid changes in speed.
Bearing clearance group C3 means that the radial bearing clearance when new is greater than in the standard version. This clearance reduces the risk of stress when the rings expand due to tight fits or when temperature differences occur between the shaft and the housing during operation. C3 ensures operational reliability in bearings subject to thermal stress.
The NU207 -E-XL-M1A-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 °C to +150 °C. In addition to the metallic bearing components, the thermal load-bearing capacity of the selected grease or lubricating oil within the surrounding housing structure is the primary factor determining the actual operating temperature on site.
As this cylindrical roller bearing is an open design and therefore has no integrated seals, housing covers, shaft seals or labyrinth seals must protect the bearing housing from the ingress of dirt and moisture. At the same time, the external seal retains the lubricant within the housing.
