The SKF NJ2205 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row support bearing measuring 25x52x18 mm, designed to accommodate high radial forces and single-sided axial loads.
The NJ2205 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing belongs to the NJ series and is designed as a support bearing. The outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has one fixed flange and is removable on one side. This design enables the bearing to accommodate radial forces as well as axial loads from one direction. An optimised internal design and the lightweight polyamide cage ensure smooth running within an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
This bearing is fitted at shaft positions that carry high radial forces whilst simultaneously requiring axial guidance in one direction. Thanks to its separable design with an inner ring that can be removed from one side, both bearing rings can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. Typical applications include shaft mountings subject to thermal linear expansion or unilateral thrust forces. As an open design, the component requires an external lubricant supply.
The ECP design features a polyamide cage, which reduces the weight of the rolling element assembly and responds elastically to load peaks. In combination with the increased radial clearance (C3), the bearing compensates for operational heating and fit oversizes without premature seizing. In terms of dimensional accuracy, the design meets tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), whilst the running accuracy corresponds to the tighter class P6 (ABEC 3).
The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the bearing to function as a support bearing, guiding shafts in the axial direction and accommodating axial forces on one side. In the opposite direction, the design allows for limited axial displacement.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 25 mm, an outer diameter of 52 mm and a width of 18 mm. It is a single-row cylindrical roller bearing with an optimised internal design and a cylindrical bore.
At SKF, the suffix ‘ECP’ stands for an optimised internal design to increase load-carrying capacity, as well as a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by low friction and shock-absorbing properties.
The designation C3 indicates a larger radial bearing clearance than the standard clearance. This design is intended for applications where temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings, or where tight fits on the shaft and housing reduce the radial operating clearance.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. This range is largely determined by the polyamide cage used, which remains dimensionally stable and elastic within these limits.
The bearing has the standard dimensional accuracy class P0 or ABEC 1 for connection dimensions such as bore diameter and outer diameter. The running accuracy of the guide surfaces, however, meets the higher precision class P6 or ABEC 3 for improved concentricity.
