The FAG N309 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row idler bearing with a polyamide cage and main dimensions of 45 × 100 × 25 mm, designed for high radial loads.
This open cylindrical roller bearing, the N309 -E-XL-TVP2, is designed to accommodate high radial forces. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rolling elements, the roller bearing offers high radial rigidity. The design as a non-locating bearing allows for axial displacement of the shaft directly within the bearing, thereby compensating for thermal length changes without constraint.
The N-type non-locating bearing design is suitable for bearing arrangements subject to purely radial loads, where the shaft is axially guided by a separate locating bearing. As the outer ring has no flange, the bearing does not accommodate any axial forces. Thanks to its open design, the component can be flexibly integrated into housing-side lubrication circuits using grease or oil.
In the N design, the inner ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the outer ring is flangeless and can be removed from both sides. This design facilitates assembly, as the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately. The polyamide cage is characterised by its smooth running properties and low noise levels, and is designed for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees. Together with the standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), the bearing unit is suitable for common fits in mechanical engineering.
With an internal diameter of 45 mm, an external diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions. These dimensions enable the design of suitable shaft and housing seats in mechanical engineering.
The designation ‘N’ refers to a non-locating bearing with two fixed flanges on the inner ring and a flangeless outer ring that can be removed from either side. This design accommodates radial loads only and compensates for temperature-induced changes in the shaft’s length directly within the bearing.
The polyamide cage guides the rollers, reduces the weight of the rotating component and dampens operating noise. The material also ensures low-friction operation. The permissible temperature range for this cage design is between -30 and +120 degrees.
In the absence of factory-fitted sealing washers, the lubricant is supplied via the surrounding housing. The bearing can be operated with either grease or oil, with external seals on the assembly preventing the ingress of contaminants and moisture.
The standard radial bearing clearance (CN) defines the standard radial bearing clearance when the bearing is new and unloaded. It ensures that, following press-fitting with standard fits and under normal operating temperatures, the bearing rotates smoothly without seizing.
The cylindrical roller bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0, which corresponds to the standard tolerance PN and the US classification ABEC 1. The dimensional, form and runout tolerances therefore comply with the established standards of general mechanical engineering.
