The FAG NJ221 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing offers high radial load-carrying capacity with dimensions of 105 × 190 × 36 mm and is used as a support bearing.
The FAG NJ221 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications involving high radial forces. With an inside diameter of 105 mm, an outside diameter of 190 mm and a width of 36 mm, this open bearing safely handles high loads. Thanks to the polyamide material in the cage, the unit operates quietly and dampens vibrations. The design complies with the standard tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1) and has standard radial clearance for normal operating temperatures between –30 and +120 °C.
This single-row cylindrical roller bearing is primarily used where heavy radial loads act on rotating shafts. The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. As a result, the bearing assembly absorbs radial loads and also guides the shaft axially in one direction. Designs utilise this support bearing function to compensate for changes in the shaft’s length whilst simultaneously absorbing unilateral guiding forces.
The integrated polyamide cage (TVP2) is characterised by its low weight and good damping properties, which reduce friction and heat generation. As the inner ring can be removed from one side, the bearing can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. This facilitates maintenance and overhaul work. As an open component without an integrated seal and without a lubrication groove in the outer ring, the bearing location requires a clean installation environment as well as an external supply of lubricant, such as grease or lubricating oil, within the specified temperature range.
With a bore of 105 mm, an outer diameter of 190 mm and a width of 36 mm, the bearing complies with standardised key dimensions. These dimensions allow for direct mounting on suitable shaft journals in mechanical engineering applications where high radial load-carrying capacity is required alongside a compact radial height.
In the NJ version, the outer ring has two integrated guide flanges, whilst the inner ring has a fixed flange on one side only. This design allows axial displacement of the shaft in one direction, whilst the bearing supports axial forces in the opposite direction. In addition, the removable inner ring simplifies installation.
The designation TVP2 refers to a solid polyamide cage. This plastic cage offers a low moment of inertia, high elasticity and good emergency running properties, whilst ensuring smooth operation. It is suitable for continuous operating temperatures within the permissible operating range of -30 to +120 °C.
As this bearing is manufactured ex-works without lubrication holes or seals, grease or oil is supplied via the surrounding housing. An external seal protects the roller system against the ingress of particles whilst also preventing the lubricant from escaping during operation.
The standard radial bearing clearance ensures a balanced clearance between the rollers and raceways when the bearing is in its unassembled state. Once the bearing has been pressed onto the housing, this operating clearance is reduced slightly. This design is suitable for standard fit selections and standard operating conditions without extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0, which corresponds to class ABEC 1 in the US. This classification defines the permissible dimensional and runout tolerances of the rings and ensures precise guidance in typical industrial applications within general mechanical and plant engineering.
