The FAG NUP2220 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a fixed bearing with dimensions of 100 × 180 × 46 mm, designed for high radial loads and axial shaft guidance.
The FAG NUP2220 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing in a fixed-end design for shafts with a diameter of 100 mm. Thanks to the NUP geometry, the design accommodates high radial forces as well as axial guidance forces from both directions. The open design without an integrated seal allows for direct lubrication via the customer’s own lubricant supply. With an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width of 46 mm, the bearing unit is suitable for demanding mechanical mounting applications.
The NUP2220 -E-XL-M1-C3 acts as a fixed bearing within the system and guides rotating shafts in both axial directions via positive engagement. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, the rolling bearing can withstand very high radial forces whilst maintaining high rigidity. The solid brass cage ensures precise guidance of the rolling elements during dynamic accelerations and vibrations. With a temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees, the bearing retains its dimensional stability even under thermal stress.
The C3 specification denotes an increased radial clearance compared with the standard version, designed to accommodate thermal and mechanical compensation. This internal clearance compensates for operational temperature differences between the inner and outer rings and prevents the rollers from seizing in tight fits. When installing open bearing assemblies, the housing tolerances and a reliable supply of suitable lubricants must be coordinated.
With an internal diameter of 100 mm, an external diameter of 180 mm and a width of 46 mm, the bearing has standardised main dimensions. When designing the connecting components, account must be taken of the fixed flanges on the inner and outer rings, as well as the loose flanged washer for axial support.
A characteristic feature of the NUP design is the presence of two fixed flanges on the outer ring, as well as one fixed flange and one loose flange disc on the inner ring. As a result, the unit functions as a fixed bearing that axially guides a shaft in both directions. At the same time, the set of rollers transmits very high radial forces via line contact.
A Group C3 bearing clearance provides greater radial clearance than standard bearing clearance. This prevents the rolling elements from becoming stressed when press fits on the shaft or housing cause the inner ring to expand or the outer ring to contract. The required smooth running is maintained even in the event of operational temperature differences between the bearing rings.
The solid brass cage M1 is characterised by high strength and good run-on properties. It guides the cylindrical rollers precisely under shock loads, changes in speed and vibrations. Furthermore, brass withstands thermal stresses within the permissible range up to +150 degrees.
As this bearing is supplied ex-works in an open design, it does not have any integrated seals. Depending on the application, you lubricate the component via an oil or grease supply within the housing. To keep out dirt and moisture, suitable external seals, such as shaft seals or labyrinth seals, must be incorporated into the surrounding structure.
The permissible temperature range for this cylindrical roller bearing is between -30 and +150 degrees. For open bearings, the thermal operating limit is largely determined by the lubricant selected. For applications close to the upper limit, a heat-resistant industrial oil or high-temperature grease is recommended.
