FAG cylindrical roller bearing nj315-e-xl-m1-c3 with a brass cage and slightly increased radial clearance for industrial applications subject to thermal and mechanical stress.
The NJ315-E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings is designed as an open bearing for high radial loads. The cylindrical bore allows the inner ring to be mounted directly onto the shaft. The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring, enabling axial forces to be accommodated in one direction. With an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 37 mm, the bearing is suitable for heavily loaded bearing arrangements in mechanical engineering.
This cylindrical roller bearing is used in powertrains, gearboxes and heavy-duty industrial units where strong radial forces act on the shaft. As the bearing is of an open design, it is lubricated directly via the oil or grease circuit of the surrounding structure. The brass cage guides the rollers stably even under dynamic loads. For operating environments with temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 °C, the open design offers thermal stability during continuous industrial operation.
The designation C3 stands for a slightly increased radial bearing clearance, i.e. greater radial play in the initial state. This clearance compensates for operational heating or tight fits without the rolling elements becoming jammed. The brass cage dampens mechanical vibrations and is also suitable for demanding lubricants. When designing the assembly, ensure a suitable external seal is incorporated, as otherwise dirt particles can penetrate the open rolling bearing unhindered.
A single-row cylindrical roller bearing of the NJ type can accommodate high radial forces as well as axial loads in one direction. The FAG roller bearing version features a solid brass cage and a cylindrical bore, and is supplied as an open unit without integrated sealing washers.
The bearing has an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 37 mm. It is mounted on the shaft via a standard cylindrical bore, which enables a precise fit during the construction and maintenance of machinery.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard value. This additional radial clearance is advantageous when temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation, or when tight fit allowances reduce the internal bearing clearance.
Brass cages are characterised by high strength and good run-on properties. They can withstand dynamic shock loads, vibrations and higher thermal demands, making them suitable for use in heavily loaded industrial gearboxes and machine bearings.
The roller bearing is designed for use within a temperature range of -30 to +150 °C. The actual operating limit during operation also depends on the lubricant selected, which must be thermally suited to the ambient conditions.
Open bearings do not have their own sealing washers and must be protected against the ingress of dirt and moisture by the housing of the overall system. Depending on the design specifications, lubrication is provided either by grease fillings in the housing or via a continuous oil circulation system.
