FAG nu330-e-xl-m1-c3 cylindrical roller bearing: Open roller bearing with an outer diameter of 320 mm, a brass cage and a slightly increased C3 clearance for heavy radial loads.
The FAG nu330-e-xl-m1-c3 cylindrical roller bearing, as a radial roller bearing, primarily absorbs significant radial forces. In the NU design, the outer ring guides the rollers via two fixed flanges, whilst the flangeless inner ring compensates for axial length changes in the shaft during operation. With a width of 65 mm and an outer diameter of 320 mm, this bearing is suitable for heavily loaded industrial shafts.
Design engineers prefer this bearing type as a support bearing for high radial forces and axial shaft expansion. The NU design allows for unrestricted axial movement within the rolling element set, thereby compensating for thermal length changes in the shaft without jamming. Thanks to its solid brass cage, the bearing operates reliably even under vibration or during high acceleration within a temperature range of -30 to +150 °C.
The solid brass cage guides the cylindrical rollers precisely and withstands mechanical shock loads and vibrations. The C3 rating indicates a slightly increased radial clearance. This increased radial clearance prevents the rolling elements from becoming stressed should operational temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings, or should tight fits on the cylindrical shaft restrict the radial clearance. As this is an open bearing, lubrication is provided via the housing design.
With an outside diameter of 320 mm and a width of 65 mm, this design can withstand high radial loads. The bearing features a solid brass cage and a slightly increased C3 radial clearance, and is primarily used as a sliding support bearing on shafts with a cylindrical bore.
The C3 bearing clearance provides a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance compensates for thermal expansion caused by high operating temperatures. Furthermore, the C3 clearance prevents the rollers from jamming when tight fits cause the inner ring to expand or the housing to compress the outer ring.
A brass cage offers high mechanical strength and stability against vibrations and shock loads. The material performs particularly well under demanding operating conditions and continuous thermal stresses. It guides the cylindrical rollers precisely along the raceway and contributes to stable running performance.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 °C. This range allows it to be used in applications where heat generation is high. When selecting the bearing, the lubricant and external sealing elements must also be suitable for the chosen operating temperature.
As an open roller bearing, this design has no integrated sealing washers. Lubrication with oil or roller bearing grease is provided via the surrounding housing. External seals on the adjacent structure protect the raceways and cylindrical rollers from contaminants and moisture in the ambient environment.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges to guide the rollers, whilst the inner ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows the inner ring to move freely relative to the roller set in both axial directions. This design compensates for operational changes in the length of the shaft.
