The FAG NU207 -E-XL-M1A-C4 cylindrical roller bearing with a 35 mm bore is designed as a separable idler bearing for high radial loads under thermal stress.
The NU207 -E-XL-M1A-C4 cylindrical roller bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings is a single-row radial roller bearing for industrial applications with purely radial load capacity. With key dimensions of a 35 mm bore, 72 mm outer diameter and 17 mm width, the NU design functions purely as a non-locating bearing. As the outer ring has solid flanges and the inner ring is flangeless, the inner ring can be removed from either side. This facilitates the mounting of the individual bearing rings onto the shaft and housing.
This single-row roller bearing is particularly suitable for mounting positions where thermally induced changes in shaft length must be compensated for without constraint. Thanks to the inner ring, which can be slid on both sides, the bearing accommodates axial displacement directly in the rolling element area. Typical applications include shaft mountings where high radial forces must be accommodated, whilst axial guidance is provided by a separate fixed bearing.
The version designated C4 features a significantly increased radial clearance. This prevents the rollers from seizing if, during operation, there are considerable temperature differences between the shaft and the housing, or if tight fits reduce the radial clearance. The design is complemented by the externally guided solid brass cage M1A. This solid cage reliably guides the cylindrical rollers along the raceway, even under varying speeds, vibrations and shock loads.
The roller bearing has an inner diameter of 35 mm, an outer diameter of 72 mm and a width of 17 mm. These dimensions allow for a precise fit when installed in housing bores and on corresponding shaft seats.
The C4 designation denotes a radial bearing clearance that is significantly greater than the standard operating clearance and greater than C3. It provides additional leeway for applications in which the inner ring heats up and expands more than the outer ring during operation, or where particularly tight fits are specified.
The NU design denotes a non-locating bearing with two fixed flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring. This allows the rollers to move axially along the raceway of the inner ring. The bearing directly compensates for longitudinal expansion of the shaft caused by temperature changes without generating any additional axial stresses.
The M1A version features a solid brass cage which is guided along the outer ring. This external guidance provides the cage with high stability against guiding forces and tilting movements. Consequently, this design proves particularly effective in the face of vibrations, impacts or high acceleration in drive technology.
The open bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. As it contains neither contacting plastic seals nor a heat-sensitive plastic cage, the bearing’s mechanical performance remains stable across this temperature range. Suitable lubricants must be provided separately.
As an open cylindrical roller bearing, this design allows for flexible lubrication via the surrounding machinery system, for example through oil circulation or housing grease. In such designs, protection against contamination and moisture is provided by external sealing elements such as shaft seals or labyrinth seals in the housing wall.
