The FAG NJ311 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is designed for shafts with a 55 mm bore under high radial loads and supports axial loads on one side.
The FAG NJ311 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing for industrial applications subject to significant radial loads. With a bore of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 120 mm and a width of 29 mm, this size offers a compact guidance solution with high load-carrying capacity. The open design without seals allows for direct lubricant supply via the housing. Thanks to tolerance class P0, the roller bearing meets standard precision requirements in general mechanical engineering.
This roller bearing is used where high radial forces are present and, at the same time, single-sided axial guidance of the shaft is required. The NJ design functions as a support bearing: the inner ring has a fixed flange, whilst the opposite side allows for axial displacement. As a result, the bearing arrangement compensates for thermal length changes in the shaft in one direction. Applications include bearing arrangements where defined axial support is required whilst the main load is radial.
The integrated TVP2 polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers evenly and reduces the weight compared with solid metal cages. The elastic cage material dampens impacts within the rolling element set and promotes quiet operation. When designing the bearing, please note the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius specified for the material. As the outer ring is manufactured without a groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied from the end face. Furthermore, the inner ring, which can be removed from one side, facilitates assembly.
This single-row bearing has an inner diameter of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 120 mm and a width across flats of 29 mm. The dimensions conform to common standard series, ensuring that the component remains dimensionally interchangeable. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither lubrication grooves nor lubrication holes, which requires lubricant to be applied from the end face.
The designation NJ denotes a thrust bearing with two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the bearing to absorb radial forces and guide the shaft in the axial direction. In the opposite direction, the removable inner ring allows for axial displacement, ensuring that thermal linear expansion of the shaft remains stress-free.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. This range is determined by the TVP2 polyamide cage, which retains its dimensional stability within these temperature limits. For applications close to the limit temperatures, care must be taken to use a suitable lubricant that maintains stable lubrication within the rolling contact.
The bearing is designed with standard radial clearance. This standard bearing clearance is suitable for normal operating conditions and typical fit selections on the shaft and housing. It helps to ensure that, after the rings have been fitted and subject to operational heating, sufficient radial clearance is maintained between the rollers and raceways.
The open design, which has no integrated seals, allows for use in oil-lubricated systems or enclosed gearbox housings. The lubricant reaches the rollers and the polyamide cage unimpeded. For use in dirty environments, external seals must be fitted to the housing cover to prevent the ingress of foreign particles.
The inner ring can be removed from the roller and outer ring assembly on one side. This allows you to fit the inner ring and outer ring separately onto the shaft or into the housing. This simplifies assembly in the case of tight fits and reduces the risk of mechanical damage to the raceways or cage during assembly.
