The FAG NU310 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 50 × 110 × 27 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity and axial length compensation when used as a non-locating bearing.
This single-row cylindrical roller bearing, the NU310 -E-XL-TVP2-C3, is an open roller bearing capable of withstanding very high radial forces. The NU design is characterised by two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. This allows the inner ring to be removed from both sides, which facilitates the separate assembly of both bearing rings. A lightweight polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers in the outer ring. The component is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
This design is used in bearing arrangements that must function purely as idler bearings. Thanks to the flangeless design of the inner ring, the bearing compensates for operational length expansion of the shaft internally without generating forces. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering for shaft mountings where heavy radial loads are the primary concern. As the outer ring is manufactured without a groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied via the end faces of the open bearing as a design feature.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This increased clearance between the rollers and raceways counteracts jamming when temperature differences occur between the shaft and housing, or when tight fits cause the inner ring to expand. The polyamide cage reduces friction and promotes smooth running. Thanks to tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), the bearing meets the usual standards for industrial applications.
The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring. This allows the inner ring to be removed completely. This design accommodates radial forces only and permits axial displacement of the shaft within the bearing. This makes the roller bearing a classic non-locating bearing for mechanical designs.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 50 mm, an external diameter of 110 mm and a width of 27 mm. These key dimensions comply with standardised series for cylindrical roller bearings. They allow existing bearings of the same size to be replaced directly during repair and maintenance work.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance. This internal clearance compensates for thermal expansion that may occur during operation due to uneven heating of the shaft and housing. Even with tight fits, the C3 clearance ensures that the rolling elements retain sufficient clearance for free concentricity.
The suffix TVP2 denotes a solid polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight, dampens running noise and guides the rollers with low friction. The polyamide cage is designed for use in a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
This is an open bearing with no integrated sealing washers and no lubrication hole in the outer ring. Consequently, grease or oil must be supplied via the surrounding housing. Furthermore, the open design requires external sealing elements on the shaft to prevent the ingress of dirt.
