The single-row cylindrical roller bearing NUP236 -E-M1 from FAG Wälzlager (180 × 320 × 52 mm) serves as a fixed bearing designed to accommodate high radial loads and provide axial guidance on both sides.
This open cylindrical roller bearing, the NUP236 -E-M1 from FAG Wälzlager, is suitable for demanding industrial drives. The NUP design is characterised by two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange and one loose flange disc on the inner ring. As a result, the roller bearing guides the shaft in both axial directions. The integrated brass cage guides the cylindrical rollers precisely and performs particularly well under high dynamic loads.
This NUP236 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is primarily used in heavy-duty machinery, gearboxes and industrial plant where high radial loads are present. The design absorbs these forces via the cylindrical rollers and raceways. As a fixed bearing, the NUP version simultaneously provides axial fixation of the shaft on both sides. The permissible temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees enables use under demanding thermal conditions.
The solid brass cage provides mechanically stable roller guidance under severe operating conditions and in the presence of vibrations. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, the lubricant supply and external sealing can be specifically tailored to the respective housing design. With the standard tolerance P0/PN (ABEC 1) and normal radial clearance, the bearing fits precisely into standardised housing seats.
The NUP version has two solid flanges on the outer ring, as well as a solid flange and a separate flange disc on the inner ring. This allows the component to function as a fixed bearing. It primarily absorbs high radial forces whilst simultaneously guiding the supported shaft in both axial directions without play, within the design limits.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 180 mm, an outside diameter of 320 mm and a width of 52 mm. These dimensions comply with the standardised specifications for single-row cylindrical roller bearings in this size class and define the mounting dimensions for the shaft and bearing housing.
The brass cage separates the individual rolling elements, guides them evenly along the raceways and reduces internal friction. In continuous industrial use, brass is characterised by high dimensional stability under vibrations, shock loads and elevated operating temperatures.
For this open cylindrical roller bearing, the permissible operating temperature range is between -30 and +150 degrees. Within these limits, the dimensional stability of the bearing rings and the functionality of the brass cage are maintained. The actual upper limit depends largely on the lubricant used.
Standard radial bearing clearance, often referred to as Group CN, describes the standard radial clearance between the rollers and raceways when no load is applied. It is dimensioned such that, following press-fitting with standard fits and under normal operating temperatures, reliable concentricity is ensured without any unacceptable distortion.
As an open bearing, this design has no integrated sealing or cover plates. This allows for flexible lubrication with oil or grease directly within the machine housing. In such assemblies, protection against contaminants and moisture is provided by external sealing elements in the surrounding structure.
