The FAG N306 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, an open idler bearing measuring 30 × 72 × 19 mm, is designed to accommodate radial forces in mechanical engineering applications.
The N306 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing in tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1). Compared to ball bearings, cylindrical rollers provide a linear contact surface on the raceways, meaning the bearing is designed to withstand high radial loads. As an open rolling bearing without integrated seals, this design is characterised by low rotational resistance and is supplied with grease or lubricating oil via an external lubrication system.
This design is primarily used as a non-locating bearing in bearing arrangements subject to high radial forces. In the N design, the outer ring has no flanges, meaning that axial length changes in the shaft due to thermal effects are compensated for directly within the bearing. The permissible temperature range is between –30 and +120 degrees Celsius. As the outer ring has no lubrication bore and no circumferential groove, the lubricant is supplied via the surrounding bearing housing.
The outer ring can be removed from both sides, which simplifies installation and subsequent inspection work. The inner ring and roller cage can be mounted on the shaft and in the housing independently of the outer ring. The polyamide cage (TVP2) guides the rollers with low mass whilst maintaining normal radial clearance. In the open design, the surrounding structural elements must provide protection against dirt particles and moisture.
With an internal diameter of 30 mm, an external diameter of 72 mm and a width of 19 mm, this design complies with standardised key dimensions for fitting onto shafts and into housing bores.
In the N design, the inner ring has two fixed flanges to guide the rollers, whilst the outer ring has no flanges. This allows the outer ring to be removed from either side. The bearing acts purely as a non-locating bearing and accommodates radial forces only.
TVP2 refers to a solid window cage made of polyamide. This material is characterised by its elasticity and low weight, and helps to ensure the smooth running of the cylindrical rollers. The permissible temperature range extends up to +120 degrees Celsius.
This bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance (CN). This value is designed for standard fits and typical operating temperatures, ensuring that the intended operating clearance between the rollers and raceways is maintained after installation.
Lubrication is provided via the surrounding housing or an external lubrication system, as the bearing is supplied open without sealing washers. As the outer ring has neither a lubrication bore nor a ring groove, grease or lubricating oil reaches the rollers directly via the end faces.
Manufactured to tolerance class P0 (standard tolerance PN or ABEC 1), the bearing meets standardised specifications for bore and outer diameters, as well as concentricity, in mechanical engineering.
