The FAG NU2210 -E-XL-M1A-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with a 50 mm bore and a brass cage, provides a robust floating bearing arrangement for high radial forces.
The NU2210 -E-XL-M1A-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from FAG for industrial applications involving purely radial load carrying. Thanks to the line contact between the roller bodies and raceways, the cylindrical design can accommodate considerable radial loads. The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. This allows the inner ring to be removed from both sides, which significantly simplifies separate installation and subsequent inspection work at the bearing location.
As a floating bearing, the design compensates for axial displacement of the shaft directly within the bearing without any constraint. It is particularly suitable for use with longer shafts where thermal linear expansion must not lead to additional axial stresses. Thanks to the externally mounted solid brass cage, the roller bearing is also suitable for demanding environmental conditions involving vibrations or rapid changes in rotational speed. The permissible operating temperature range extends from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
The solid brass cage provides stable guidance for the cylindrical rollers and is insensitive to dynamic mass forces. In combination with the slightly increased radial clearance (C3), the bearing counteracts premature stress build-up should temperature differences arise between the shaft and the housing during operation. As this is an open bearing without a groove or lubrication bore in the outer ring, an external seal for the bearing housing and a suitable lubricant supply must be provided as part of the design.
The NU design is characterised by two solid flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring. This allows the inner ring to be removed from either side and mounted separately on the shaft. In operation, the bearing acts purely as a non-locating bearing and compensates axially for thermal length changes in the shaft.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 50 mm, an external diameter of 90 mm and a width of 23 mm. It is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or PN (corresponding to ABEC 1).
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This increased internal clearance prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed when tight fits or temperature differences between the housing and the shaft reduce the bearing clearance during operation.
The M1A cage is made of solid brass and is guided on the outer side. This design is characterised by high mechanical strength. It withstands dynamic loads and vibrations and ensures stable guidance of the cylindrical rollers even during rapid changes in speed.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. When designing the bearing installation, users must ensure that the external lubricant used also covers this temperature range.
Yes, as this is an open roller bearing without its own sealing washers, lubricant can reach the contact surfaces freely. The adjacent structure must be fitted with suitable seals to prevent lubricant loss and to protect the rolling system from ingress of dirt.
