The SKF N213 ECP single-row cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 65x120x23 mm, acts as a support bearing to accommodate high radial forces.
The SKF N213 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is designed for demanding industrial applications where purely radial forces are transmitted. Due to its N design, the bearing has two fixed flanges on the inner ring, whilst the flangeless outer ring remains removable from both sides. In the Explorer version, with its optimised internal design, the construction combines dimensional accuracy to P0 or ABEC 1 with increased running accuracy of class P6 or ABEC 3.
In mechanical drives and gearboxes, this design compensates for heat-induced changes in shaft length directly in the rolling element area without any constraint. The flangeless outer ring allows for axial displacement in both directions relative to the shaft. This open bearing is ideally suited for use in housings with an existing lubrication system, as the outer ring and inner ring can be fitted separately. This facilitates maintenance work and inspection routines in machines with confined installation spaces.
The suffix ECP denotes a polyamide cage and a modified internal geometry. The polymer cage keeps the weight low and contributes to low-vibration operation at normal radial clearance. The permissible operating temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. As the outer ring has neither a lubrication groove nor lubrication holes, oil or grease is applied directly from the side.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 65 mm, an outside diameter of 120 mm and a width across flats of 23 mm. These dimensions comply with the standardised N213 series and allow for dimensionally accurate installation on cylindrical shaft seats and in suitable bearing housings.
In the N design, the inner ring guides the cylindrical rollers between two fixed flanges, whilst the outer ring has no flanges. This allows the outer ring to be pulled out axially from both ends. The component thus acts purely as a non-locating bearing, which accommodates the thermal expansion of the rotating shaft axially during operation.
This roller bearing combines two tolerance classes: The dimensional accuracy for the bore, outer diameter and width complies with the standard tolerance P0 or ABEC 1. For concentricity and running accuracy, however, the tighter tolerance class P6 (corresponding to ABEC 3) applies, which contributes to smooth rotational behaviour during operation.
The N213 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. This range is largely determined by the polyamide cage fitted. When selecting lubricants for this open bearing, the greases or oils chosen must be suitable for this temperature range.
As the bearing is designed without integrated seals and the outer ring has no lubrication bore, lubrication must be provided via the adjacent structure. Lubricating oil or rolling-element bearing grease is introduced from the end faces. At the same time, external seals are required in the surrounding housing to keep contaminants away from the raceways.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the factory-set movement between the rollers and raceways when the bearing is unmounted. This standard range ensures that, once the bearing rings have been pressed onto the shaft and housing, the required operating clearance for even load distribution is maintained.
