The FAG NJ320 -E-M1 single-row cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 100 × 215 × 47 mm, can accommodate very high radial forces and supports axial loads on one side.
The NJ320 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing features cylindrical rollers which, through line contact, can handle high radial loads. FAG manufactures this version with standard radial clearance and the standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. Thanks to its solid brass cage, this open bearing is suitable for high mechanical loads. The design covers a temperature range from –30 to +150 degrees, provided that a suitable lubricant is used in the surrounding housing.
This single-row bearing functions as a classic support bearing in mechanical engineering. In addition to heavy radial loads, it also absorbs axial forces acting on the shaft from one direction. In the opposite direction, the bearing allows for axial displacement of the shaft. The solid brass cage guides the rolling elements precisely, even under vibration and at high speeds.
The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This allows the inner ring to be pulled off towards the opposite side, which facilitates the separate installation of both bearing rings in the housing and on the shaft. The brass material ensures the rollers are dimensionally stable. As the outer ring is designed without a groove or lubrication bore, grease or oil is supplied directly via the open bearing cavity.
This design is characterised by two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This construction guides the rollers precisely and enables the bearing to accommodate axial forces from one direction. In the opposite direction, the inner ring can be displaced axially, enabling the bearing to compensate for thermal linear expansion of the shaft.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 100 mm for the shaft seat, an outer diameter of 215 mm for the housing bore and a width across flats of 47 mm. It is a single-row cylindrical roller bearing with a cylindrical bore.
The suffix M1 denotes a solid brass cage. Brass offers high strength under mechanical stress. The material performs particularly well under vibrations and shock loads, as it guides the rolling elements stably and remains thermally robust.
The bearing has no integrated seals. The outer ring has no groove and no lubrication bore. Consequently, protection against dirt and moisture must be provided by the housing design, whilst lubrication is supplied either via an oil bath, an oil circulation system or by external grease filling within the housing.
The roller bearing is designed for ambient temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. In order to make full use of this temperature range during operation, the lubricant used must be suited to the respective operating temperature. In addition, users should take into account the thermal expansion of the surrounding components.
Normal radial bearing clearance means that the radial bearing clearance complies with the standard tolerance. This clearance compensates for fit allowances during press-fitting and for heat build-up during operation. For standard applications without extreme temperature differences between the shaft and the housing, this operating clearance helps to ensure an even load distribution.
