The FAG N220 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 100x180x34 mm, provides a robust floating bearing arrangement for high radial loads in mechanical engineering.
The FAG N220 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing in an open design. With a bore of 100 mm, an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width of 34 mm, the component can withstand very high radial forces. The cylindrical rollers create line contact with the raceway, enabling high load-carrying capacity and radial stiffness.
In bearing arrangements, this roller bearing primarily serves as a pure non-locating bearing for absorbing radial forces. Due to the N design, the inner ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the outer ring is flangeless and can be drawn off from both sides. As a result, the bearing arrangement axially compensates for thermally induced changes in the length of the shaft during operation. This design helps to prevent stress between the housing and the shaft when temperatures change.
The designation TVP2 stands for a window cage made of polyamide. This cage has a low weight, which keeps the inertial forces and the starting torque of the roller row to a minimum. Furthermore, the material dampens running noise. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. As an open design without integrated seals, lubrication is provided by the surrounding structure.
With an internal diameter of 100 mm, an external diameter of 180 mm and a width of 34 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions of the 220 series. These dimensions make replacement easier during maintenance and repair work.
The inner ring guides the cylindrical rollers between two fixed flanges, whilst the outer ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows the outer ring to be moved axially and removed from both sides. The component therefore acts as a non-locating bearing and accommodates radial loads only.
The permissible temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees. The thermal operating limit depends primarily on the TVP2 polyamide cage and the lubricant. Within these limits, the cage retains its dimensional stability and elasticity.
The roller bearing is designed with a standard radial clearance. This standard clearance is suitable for common fits on shafts and housings, as well as for operating conditions without significant temperature differences between the bearing rings.
As an open design without sealing washers, the bearing requires lubrication with grease or lubricating oil via the surrounding housing. The external housing seal protects the raceways from contamination and prevents the lubricant from leaking out.
The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to standard class ABEC 1. This classification covers the standard accuracy requirements for dimensional, form and running tolerances in industrial mechanical engineering.
