The SKF NU330 ECM cylindrical roller bearing is a separable idler bearing with a brass cage, designed for high radial loads, with dimensions of 150 × 320 × 65 mm.
This single-row NU330 ECM cylindrical roller bearing, acting as a non-locating bearing, absorbs purely radial forces and allows for axial compensation directly within the component. SKF offers this design in the Explorer performance class. Two fixed flanges on the outer ring guide the roller set, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This design allows the inner ring to be removed from either side, which facilitates installation with tight fits on the shaft.
The NU330 ECM cylindrical roller bearing is suitable for bearing arrangements subject to high radial forces, where thermal length changes in the shaft need to be compensated for. As a floating bearing, the design compensates for axial displacement between the inner and outer rings without constraint. The solid brass cage supports smooth running under vibrations and varying speeds and is designed to withstand demanding mechanical loads.
The NU design completely separates the inner and outer rings, allowing both bearing rings to be fitted independently of one another. This simplifies installation in machine housings and protects the raceways from damage during fitting. The solid brass cage, designated by the suffix ECM, guides the cylindrical rollers precisely within the roller set. With standard radial clearance and a running accuracy of class P6, this open roller bearing is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
The main dimensions of the bearing are a bore diameter of 150 mm, an outside diameter of 320 mm and a width across flats of 65 mm. The outer ring has no lubrication groove or bore. These mounting dimensions must be checked against the drawing of the shaft and bearing housing prior to installation.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows the inner ring to move axially relative to the outer ring. The bearing acts purely as a non-locating bearing and accommodates radial forces only.
The suffix ‘ECM’ denotes a solid brass cage that precisely guides the cylindrical rollers. Brass cages are characterised by their mechanical stability and are suitable for applications involving severe vibrations or high acceleration forces.
The dimensional accuracy complies with tolerance class P0 (equivalent to ABEC 1), whilst the running accuracy is specified as class P6 (ABEC 3). This combination ensures precise operation whilst allowing for installation tolerances that facilitate assembly.
As an open roller bearing, this design has no integrated seals and is supplied with lubricating oil or grease via the bearing housing. Protection against dirt and moisture is provided by external seals on the surrounding assembly.
