The FAG NU222 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 110 × 200 × 38 mm, offers a high-load-capacity idler bearing solution for demanding radial bearing applications.
The single-row cylindrical roller bearing NU222 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 accommodates high radial forces and typically functions as a pure idler bearing in rolling bearing arrangements. As the outer ring has solid flanges, whilst the inner ring is flangeless and removable from both sides, this design compensates for operational length changes in the shaft directly within the bearing. This product is manufactured by FAG and complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
This design accommodates purely radial forces when shaft guides must remain axially free to move. The design separates the rings from one another, allowing the inner ring to be fitted separately onto the shaft and the outer ring into the housing. This significantly simplifies installation in the case of tight fits and facilitates assembly as well as subsequent maintenance procedures in industrial applications.
The TVP2 polyamide cage guides the rolling elements quietly and is characterised by its low weight. The permissible temperature range is between –30 and +120 degrees Celsius. The increased radial bearing clearance (C3) provides the necessary operating margin in the event that tight fits or temperature differences between the shaft and housing reduce the bearing clearance during operation. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, the bearing housing must be sealed via the casing and lubricated externally.
This design is characterised by two solid flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring. This allows the inner ring to be pulled out axially from both ends. The bearing functions as a conventional non-locating bearing and allows for the unrestricted longitudinal compensation of shafts during thermal expansion, without generating axial constraint stresses in the bearing arrangement.
The polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers and reduces friction and operating noise. The material can withstand operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. When selecting the product, care must be taken to ensure that lubricants and any additives are compatible with polyamide.
The C3 clearance group offers greater radial clearance than the standard version. This additional clearance helps to prevent the rolling elements from jamming if tight fits on the shaft or housing cause the rings to expand, or if significant heating during operation leads to a reduction in the internal operating clearance.
The bearing has a cylindrical bore of 110 mm, an outer diameter of 200 mm and a total width of 38 mm. The outer ring is smooth, meaning it has neither a circumferential lubrication groove nor lubrication holes; this must be taken into account when supplying lubricant to the housing.
In the absence of integrated sealing washers, the surrounding housing structure must prevent the ingress of dirt or moisture. Radial shaft seals, labyrinth seals or housing covers with sealing elements fulfil this protective function and help to ensure that the lubricating grease or oil remains within the bearing.
