SKF NUP2222 ECP cylindrical roller bearing: Single-row fixed bearing with a 110 mm bore, 200 mm outer diameter and a polyamide cage for high radial loads.
The SKF NUP2222 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, as a single-row roller bearing, can accommodate very high radial forces. Thanks to the modified internal design of the Explorer series, the component distributes any contact stresses evenly across the rollers and raceways. With two fixed flanges on the outer ring, one fixed flange on the inner ring and a loose flange disc, this design guides the shaft in both axial directions.
Bearing arrangements with shaft guidance on both sides utilise the NUP design for precise axial fixation. The component acts as a fixed bearing and, in addition to the primary radial forces, also absorbs axial guidance forces from varying directions. Common applications include industrial gearboxes and drive shafts with a defined axial stop function. The outer ring is designed without a groove or lubrication bore, meaning that the lubricant is supplied via the surrounding structure.
The integrated polyamide cage keeps the weight of the rolling element assembly low and reduces friction during operation. The operating temperature range for this application is -30 to +120 degrees. Of particular note is the graded manufacturing precision: whilst the dimensions are manufactured to standard tolerance P0 (ABEC 1), the running accuracy corresponds to the tighter P6 class (ABEC 3). This promotes smooth running at normal radial bearing clearance. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, an external housing seal is used to protect against the ingress of dirt.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 110 mm, an outside diameter of 200 mm and a width of 53 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised main dimensions for cylindrical roller bearings of this size. The dimensional accuracy is in tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
The NUP version has two fixed flanges on the outer ring, one fixed flange on the inner ring and a loose flange disc. Thanks to this design, the unit functions as a fixed bearing. It absorbs high radial forces whilst simultaneously securing the shaft in both axial directions within the housing assembly.
The polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers with minimal play and prevents direct contact between the rolling elements. Polyamide materials are characterised by their low weight and good damping properties. As a result, the rollers run stably in their raceways even under dynamic acceleration.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees. This range is limited, amongst other things, by the material of the polyamide cage. For safe operation, it is recommended to use a lubricant that fully retains its lubricating properties within this temperature range.
Running accuracy to Class P6 (equivalent to ABEC 3) specifies lower run-out deviations than the standard Class P0. Whilst the bearing mounting dimensions comply with the P0 tolerance, the P6 running precision results in reduced vibrations and contributes to the smooth running of the shaft supported by the bearing.
As an open bearing, this design has no integrated sealing washers, allowing lubricant to circulate freely. To prevent dirt particles or moisture from entering the interior of the rolling bearing, the surrounding housing structure must be fitted with suitable external sealing elements.
