The FAG NUP316 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row fixed bearing with an 80 mm bore, designed for high radial and axial loads on both sides.
The NUP316 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing provides a robust roller bearing for demanding industrial applications. The NUP design functions as a fixed bearing and guides the shaft precisely in both axial directions. With key dimensions of an 80 mm bore, 170 mm outside diameter and 39 mm width, the line contact of the cylindrical rollers accommodates heavy radial loads. The manufacturer, FAG, produces this single-row bearing to standard tolerances with standard radial clearance.
This bearing unit is used whenever a design combines high radial forces with axial shaft fixation on both sides. Thanks to two fixed flanges on the outer ring, one fixed flange on the inner ring and a loose flange disc, the bearing accommodates axial guiding forces in both directions. Typical applications include general mechanical engineering, gearbox stages and heavily loaded drive shafts where other components do not permit axial displacement.
The TVP2 version features a polyamide cage, which ensures quiet running and low friction losses. This material limits the permissible operating temperature range to between –30 and +120 degrees Celsius. As an open roller bearing without integrated sliding seals, the bearing requires a lubricant supply via the housing as well as external sealing elements to protect the raceways from contamination and moisture ingress.
The designation NUP indicates a fixed bearing. The outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring has one fixed flange and one loose flange disc. Thanks to this geometric arrangement, the cylindrical roller bearing can accommodate not only very high radial forces but also axial guide forces from both directions, and guides the shaft in its axial position.
The roller bearing has an inner diameter of 80 mm, an outer diameter of 170 mm and a width of 39 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into standardised bearing housings and onto corresponding shaft seats in industrial mechanical engineering.
The suffix TVP2 indicates a polyamide cage. This plastic cage is characterised by its low weight, elastic properties and smooth running. It guides the cylindrical rollers evenly along the raceways, but limits the bearing’s operating temperature to a maximum of 120 degrees Celsius.
The NUP316 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is specified for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. These limits are determined by the thermal resistance of the polyamide cage and the dimensional stability of the bearing rings under load. This temperature range must also be taken into account when designing the lubrication system.
The bearing is manufactured with a standard radial clearance and complies with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1. This standard tolerance is sufficient for the vast majority of conventional industrial drives, as it promotes a balanced relationship between positioning accuracy, ease of installation and operational reliability under normal thermal conditions.
This is an open bearing without integrated cover plates or sealing washers. Furthermore, the outer ring is designed without a lubrication groove or lubrication bore. To protect the rolling element system from the ingress of dust, abrasives or moisture, the surrounding structure must be fitted with housing seals and provide lubricating grease or oil.
