Cylindrical Roller Bearings FAG NJ220 -E-M1

The FAG NJ220 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing, with a 100 mm bore, offers high radial load-carrying capacity as a separable support bearing.

The FAG NJ220 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. With key dimensions of a 100 mm bore diameter, 180 mm outer diameter and 34 mm width, this design can withstand considerable radial forces. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, the component can be flexibly integrated into existing lubrication systems. The built-in brass cage guides the rolling elements precisely and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius.

What is the NJ220 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing suitable for?

This design is suitable for bearing arrangements subject to high radial forces, where the shaft must be axially guided on one side. In the NJ version, the roller bearing acts as a support bearing: the inner ring has a fixed flange, whilst the outer ring is guided on both sides. This arrangement allows axial displacement of the shaft in one direction, but absorbs axial guiding forces from the opposite direction. The design without a groove or lubrication bore in the outer ring is intended for lubricant supply via the surrounding bearing housing.

What are the advantages of the brass cage in the NJ220 -E-M1?

The solid brass cage offers high dimensional stability under high accelerations, vibrations and shock loads. Furthermore, the material properties typical of brass reduce friction on the rollers. When designing the assembly, please note that the inner ring can be removed from one side. This feature considerably facilitates installation and removal, but requires precise alignment of the shaft axis. The bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance and complies with the standard tolerances according to P0/PN or ABEC 1.

What are the dimensions of the NJ220 -E-M1 cylindrical roller bearing?

The bearing has an inside diameter of 100 mm, an outside diameter of 180 mm and a width of 34 mm. These dimensions comply with the standard for the 220 series of cylindrical roller bearings and define the required installation space on the shaft and housing.

What does the ‘NJ’ design designation mean for this bearing?

The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the bearing to withstand high radial forces and also supports the shaft axially on one side, whilst allowing for axial movement in the opposite direction.

What lubricant is required for the open bearing?

As this cylindrical roller bearing is of an open design and has no sealing washers, lubrication must be provided via the housing design. Depending on the speed and load, you can use either grease or lubricating oil. External seals protect the rolling element system from dirt and moisture.

Within what temperature range does the bearing operate reliably?

The component is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. The built-in brass cage and the dimensional stability of the rings cover this thermal operating range, provided that the selected lubricant is specified for the same temperatures.

What makes the atmosphere at this camp so special?

The bearing has standard radial clearance. The radial clearance between the rollers and raceways falls within the standardised tolerance range for normal operating conditions. At average operating temperatures and with standard fit allowances, this specification ensures low-vibration operation.

Why is the inner ring on the NJ220-E-M1 removable?

The ability to be dismantled stems from the design of the NJ series. The inner ring and outer ring, together with the roller set, can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. This simplifies mechanical installation and prevents damage to the raceways during assembly.
