The FAG NJ328 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 140 × 300 × 62 mm, withstands high radial loads and provides single-sided axial support for shafts.
The NJ328 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing with a cylindrical bore for heavy-duty industrial applications. Designed as an open support bearing, this version transmits high radial forces whilst maintaining a compact design. The manufacturer, FAG, produces this bearing in tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1). Thanks to the inner ring being removable from one side, you can fit the bearing rings separately if required, which simplifies maintenance and assembly processes in machine designs.
This single-row cylindrical roller bearing is primarily suitable for bearing locations subject to very high radial loads, where additional axial guidance forces act from one direction. The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring, enabling the bearing to function as a support bearing. Typical applications include heavy machinery and industrial gearboxes where defined axial guidance is required.
The solid brass cage ensures precise guidance of the cylindrical rollers and exhibits high dimensional stability under demanding operating conditions. In combination with the slightly increased radial clearance (C3), the bearing compensates for operational thermal expansion. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius. The outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, so the lubricant supply should be coordinated via the surrounding machine housing.
The NJ design is characterised by two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This enables the single-row roller bearing to withstand not only very high radial forces but also axial forces in one direction. In the opposite direction, the design allows for axial displacement of the shaft.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 140 mm at the bore, an outer diameter of 300 mm and a width of 62 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into housings and onto shafts of the corresponding dimensions.
The suffix C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance between the rollers and the raceway is advantageous when temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation, or when tight fits result in a slight reduction in bearing clearance.
The open bearing is specified for an operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. As there are no integrated elastomer seals, the thermal load capacity is essentially determined by the material of the rings, the brass cage and the chosen lubricant.
As an open roller bearing, the component does not have any integrated sealing washers. Protection against dirt, dust and moisture, as well as ensuring that the lubricant remains on the contact surfaces, must be achieved through external sealing elements such as shaft seals or labyrinth seals incorporated into the housing design.
The model is manufactured to tolerance class P0, which corresponds to standard tolerance PN or ABEC 1 classification. This class meets the standard accuracy requirements of general mechanical engineering and heavy-duty industrial gearboxes.
