The SKF NJ315 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, with main dimensions of 75 × 160 × 37 mm, accommodates high radial forces and single-direction axial loads in mechanical engineering applications.
The NJ315 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from SKF with a 75 mm bore, an outer diameter of 160 mm and a width of 37 mm. Due to the line contact between the rollers and the raceway, this design can transmit high radial forces. The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. As a result, the design guides the shaft in the axial direction and acts as a support bearing.
This bearing is suitable for shaft mountings where high radial loads act on the bearing location. The support bearing design additionally accommodates axial guiding forces from one direction, whilst axial displacement of the shaft in the opposite direction remains possible. As the inner ring can be removed from one side, the component can be fitted separately. The open design requires a clean installation environment and a suitable supply of lubricant via the housing.
The ECP version combines an optimised internal design from the Explorer performance class with a lightweight polyamide cage. This cage reduces the weight of the rotating parts and promotes smooth running with normal radial clearance. The permissible operating temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. In terms of precision, the bearing combines dimensional tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1) with increased running accuracy to class P6 (ABEC 3) for precise concentricity on the shaft.
The NJ design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange on the inner ring. This arrangement allows the bearing to accommodate radial forces and unilateral axial forces. In the opposite direction, the inner ring remains axially movable, enabling the bearing to function as a support bearing and simplifying assembly by allowing the bearing to be dismantled.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 75 mm, an outside diameter of 160 mm and a width of 37 mm. The outer ring is manufactured without a lubrication groove or lubrication bore, which is why the lubricant must be supplied via the housing design or by open greasing during assembly.
The permissible temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. This operating range is largely determined by the integrated polyamide cage and the lubricant selected. The lubricant must be selected so that the lubricating effect is maintained within this temperature range.
The suffix ‘EC’ denotes an optimised internal design in the SKF Explorer series. The letter ‘P’ indicates that the cage is made of polyamide. Together, these features provide favourable running characteristics, improved load transfer and reduced component weight compared with versions featuring solid metal cages.
In this bearing, the manufacturer SKF combines two accuracy classes: the dimensional accuracy corresponds to standard class P0 or ABEC 1. The running accuracy, on the other hand, meets the tighter tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3. This combination ensures precise concentricity of the shaft.
As this bearing is manufactured without integrated seals, external seals in the surrounding housing must protect the interior of the bearing from dirt and moisture. The bearing can be operated with either grease or oil. The amount of lubricant and the lubrication intervals depend on the specific operating conditions at the bearing location.
