The FAG NU322 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 110 x 240 x 50 mm, with a brass cage and C3 clearance, offers high radial load-carrying capacity for demanding industrial applications.
The NU322 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from FAG designed for high radial loads. Thanks to the line contact between the rollers and raceways, the design can withstand high radial loads during operation. This open bearing has the following main dimensions: 110 mm bore, 240 mm outer diameter and 50 mm width. It is primarily installed in gearboxes, heavy-duty drive trains and industrial machinery bearings.
This cylindrical roller bearing primarily functions as a conventional idler bearing in the bearing arrangement. The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. As a result, the bearing compensates for operational length changes in the shaft directly in the rolling element area without any forced alignment. This feature protects the bearing arrangement from unacceptable internal axial stresses, such as those arising from the thermal expansion of shafts. This design is particularly suitable for bearing arrangements subject to purely radial loads.
The version with the suffix M1 features a solid brass cage that guides the rollers. Brass is characterised by high strength and good emergency running properties, which is advantageous in the event of shock loads or vibrations. Furthermore, the bearing has a radial clearance class of C3. This slightly increased bearing clearance helps to ensure that the required operating clearance is maintained even with tight fits or operating temperatures between –30 and +150 degrees.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 110 mm, an outer diameter of 240 mm and a width of 50 mm. It is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. The outer ring has no groove and no integrated lubrication bore.
In the NU design, the outer ring guides the rollers between two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be removed from either side. This design considerably simplifies assembly and allows for axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing.
The suffix C3 indicates a radial bearing clearance that is greater than that for standard conditions. This additional clearance prevents the bearing from becoming stressed during operation if there are significant temperature differences between the housing and the shaft, or if tight fit allowances cause the inner ring to expand.
The solid brass cage maintains a precise distance between the roller elements. Compared with simple sheet metal cages, brass withstands higher acceleration forces and vibrations, and is suitable for demanding environmental conditions in continuous industrial operation.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, the actual operating limit depends primarily on the thermal stability of the externally supplied lubricant.
As this is an open design without its own sealing washers, protection against contamination must be provided by the surrounding housing structure. External seals such as shaft seals or labyrinth systems are suitable for this purpose, as they also retain the lubricant within the bearing housing.
