The FAG NJ2317 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 85x180x60 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity and acts as a support bearing with an axial guidance function.
The FAG NJ2317 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing designed for demanding operating conditions. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and the raceways, the design can withstand high radial loads. This open bearing has the following main dimensions: 85 mm bore diameter, 180 mm outer diameter and 60 mm width. A lightweight polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rolling elements and ensures low-vibration operation within the permissible temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
This bearing design is used when, in addition to high radial forces, unidirectional axial forces act on the shaft. As a support bearing, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has one fixed flange and is removable from one side. This allows the bearing to be supported in one axial direction, whilst axial displacement is still possible in the opposite direction. This also facilitates the separate assembly of the inner and outer rings.
The polyamide cage (TVP2) is characterised by its low mass, which reduces inertial forces as well as minimising friction and noise. The increased radial clearance (C3) compensates for operational temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, as well as tight fits, ensuring that the bearing rotates freely without constraint. As the outer ring is designed without a lubrication groove or bore and the bearing runs in an open configuration, the supply of grease or lubricating oil is provided via the housing design.
With an internal diameter of 85 mm, an external diameter of 180 mm and a width of 60 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised key dimensions of tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, ensuring a precise fit when installed in housings and on shafts.
The NJ design features two fixed shoulders on the outer ring and one fixed shoulder on the inner ring. This allows the bearing to absorb axial forces from one direction, whilst permitting axial displacement in the opposite direction. Furthermore, the inner ring can be removed from one side to facilitate installation.
C3 denotes an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional radial operating clearance compensates for thermal expansion caused by temperature differences between the inner and outer rings and prevents the rolling elements from seizing up in the event of tight fits following press-fitting.
The suffix TVP2 denotes a polyamide roller cage that is guided on the cylindrical rollers. The material is characterised by its low weight and enables low-vibration operation within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
In the absence of integrated sealing washers and without a lubrication groove or lubrication bore in the outer ring, grease or oil must be supplied via the housing design. External sealing elements at the bearing location protect the component from contamination and keep the lubricant within the bearing chamber.
