The FAG NU214 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is designed to accommodate high radial loads and has dimensions of 70 x 125 x 24 mm.
As a single-row cylindrical roller bearing (NU214 -E-XL-TVP2-C3), this design provides a solution for radial loads in shaft mountings. The NU design is characterised by two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. Consequently, this rolling bearing functions purely as a floating bearing, compensating for thermally induced changes in the shaft’s length within the raceway. It is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1).
This design is primarily used where high radial loads occur and axial shaft displacements must be compensated for without inducing stress. In the event of fluctuating operating temperatures, the unimpeded longitudinal displacement of the shaft enables smooth running without additional forced loads on the bearing components. As the inner ring can be removed from both sides, separate assembly onto the shaft and into the housing is particularly practical for both production and repair work.
The designation TVP2 indicates a polyamide cage, which ensures quiet operation and low friction. The permissible temperature range extends from -30 to +120 degrees. The increased bearing clearance group C3 provides greater radial clearance during operation. This helps to prevent the rolling elements from becoming stressed when temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation, or when tight fits are used.
The bearing has a bore of 70 mm, an outer diameter of 125 mm and a width of 24 mm. These dimensions are key when selecting bearings for replacement or new designs.
In NU-type cylindrical roller bearings, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the shaft and the inner ring to move axially relative to the outer ring, meaning that the bearing acts purely as a non-locating bearing.
The TVP2 cage is made of polyamide. This material reduces the weight of the cage, minimises friction on the rollers and ensures quiet operation of the bearing within the specified temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
The designation C3 indicates a radially increased bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance compensates for operational thermal expansion of the shaft and inner ring and prevents unacceptable preload during operation.
As this cylindrical roller bearing is manufactured without integrated seals, protection against dust and moisture must be provided by the surrounding housing structure. An external lubrication system using oil or grease must also be provided.
