The FAG NU320 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing (100x215x47 mm), as an open idler bearing with a brass cage, accommodates high radial loads with increased C3 bearing clearance.
The FAG NU320 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. With a bore of 100 mm, an outside diameter of 215 mm and a width of 47 mm, this version serves as a non-locating bearing. The NU design allows the inner ring to be removed from both sides, enabling axial length changes in the shaft to be compensated for within the bearing without constraint. The solid brass cage guides the cylindrical rollers under high dynamic loads.
This design is particularly suitable for bearing arrangements that must withstand high radial loads and compensate for thermal linear expansion of the shaft. The bearing accommodates radial forces exclusively, whilst axial displacement occurs with minimal resistance via the flangeless raceway. As this design is an open bearing and is rated for operating temperatures from -30 to +150 degrees, it can be integrated into existing oil or grease lubrication systems. The tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 ensures standardised mounting dimensions for a precise fit.
The solid brass cage M1 offers high rigidity under vibrations and rapid changes in rotational speed. The slightly increased radial clearance (C3) creates additional space between the rollers and raceways. This clearance helps to prevent stress build-up should tight fits occur on the shaft and housing or temperature differences arise during operation. As the outer ring is manufactured without a groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant enters the interior from the side. As this is a purely non-locating bearing, this design cannot accommodate any axial forces.
As a single-row non-locating bearing, this design absorbs purely radial forces and directly compensates for axial changes in the length of the shaft relative to the housing. As the inner ring has no flanges and can be withdrawn from both ends, the rollers move freely along the inner raceway without generating any stress.
The dimensions are 100 mm for the internal diameter, 215 mm for the external diameter and 47 mm for the overall width. The bearing complies with the standard dimensional and running tolerances in accordance with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, and therefore fits precisely onto standardised shaft and housing seats in mechanical engineering.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard CN series. This increased clearance is advantageous where tight fits or significant heating during operation cause the inner ring to expand more than the outer ring.
The solid brass cage is characterised by high mechanical strength and dimensional stability under vibration and shock loads. It guides the rollers quietly and is designed for bearing arrangements subject to dynamic loads and varying speeds.
The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. As this is an open design without its own sliding seals, the usable temperature range in practice depends largely on the lubricating grease or oil selected, as well as the housing seals.
As the outer ring has no ring groove or lubrication holes, oil or grease is supplied from the side via the bearing housing. The open design requires the surrounding structure to be properly sealed in order to keep the lubricant within the bearing chamber and prevent the ingress of foreign matter.
