The FAG cylindrical roller bearing N216 -E-XL-TVP2 (80x140x26 mm) is a single-row idler bearing with a polyamide cage designed to withstand high radial loads in mechanical engineering applications.
The FAG N216 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing with an 80 mm bore, a 140 mm outer diameter and a width of 26 mm. Thanks to the line contact between the rollers and raceways, the design can withstand high radial forces. Featuring standard radial clearance and manufactured to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, this open bearing is suitable for industrial drive systems.
The bearing serves purely as a non-locating bearing for applications with predominantly radial loads. The N design features two fixed flanges on the inner ring, whilst the outer ring is flangeless and removable from both sides. As a result, the assembly compensates for axial changes in the shaft’s length – such as those caused by heating during operation – without constraint between the rollers and the outer raceway.
The TVP2 polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight and elastic material properties, which reduce vibrations and noise during operation. The component is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. As the design is open and the outer ring has neither a groove nor a lubrication bore, lubrication and sealing are provided by the surrounding housing structure.
The bearing has a bore diameter of 80 mm, an outer diameter of 140 mm and a width of 26 mm. These dimensions determine the installation space required on the shaft and in the housing bore for a precise fit.
The designation ‘N’ refers to a cylindrical roller bearing with two fixed flanges on the inner ring and a flangeless outer ring. The outer ring can be pulled out axially from both ends, meaning that the design acts as a floating bearing and compensates for changes in the length of the shaft within the bearing.
The TVP2 cage, made of polyamide, guides the cylindrical rollers smoothly and, thanks to its low mass, reduces the moments of inertia that occur during operation. The material is specified for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees and contributes to quiet operation.
The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 and therefore complies with the standard tolerances for dimensional and radial runout accuracy. The standard radial bearing clearance is designed for standard mounting fits and standard operating conditions.
As the component is manufactured as an open unit and the outer ring has neither a lubrication groove nor a lubrication bore, the lubricant is introduced into the interior from the side. The housing design acts as a seal against dirt and retains the lubricant.
The flangeless outer ring allows the inner ring and roller set to move axially relative to the outer raceway. If the shaft heats up and expands during operation, no impermissible axial forces or stresses are generated in the roller bearing.
