The FAG 20217 -K-MB-C3 single-row spherical roller bearing, with an inner diameter of 85 mm and an outer diameter of 150 mm, provides angular misalignment compensation for high radial loads.
The 20217 -K-MB-C3 spherical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing with spherical rollers that absorbs radial forces and compensates for shaft misalignment. With key dimensions of 85 mm bore diameter, 150 mm outer diameter and a width of 28 mm, this FAG rolling bearing is suitable for demanding industrial applications. The open design allows for flexible lubrication, whilst the solid brass cage guides the rolling elements even under dynamic loads. The component complies with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
This spherical roller bearing is used wherever high radial shock or continuous loads occur and where manufacturing-related misalignments or deflections need to be compensated for. Typical applications include bearing arrangements subject to high radial forces and potential misalignment. Thanks to its permissible temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees, the bearing operates reliably even under thermal stress. The open design allows the user to freely select the appropriate lubricant for the specific environment and to relubricate the bearing directly via the machine housing.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes a tapered bore with a 1:12 taper, which allows mounting on a tapered shaft seat or, using a shrink sleeve, on cylindrical shafts. When the bearing is pressed onto the shaft, the radial bearing clearance is reduced. For this reason, this design features the increased C3 bearing clearance, ensuring that sufficient radial clearance remains after pressing and during operation at elevated temperatures. The robust brass cage (MB) guides the barrel rollers under demanding operating conditions.
With a bore diameter of 85 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width across flats of 28 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions. During design, the shaft seats must be adapted to the tapered bore or to suitable clamping sleeves.
The designation ‘K’ refers to a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design allows for mounting on tapered shaft seats or flexible mounting on smooth shafts using a clamping sleeve. You can adjust the remaining bearing clearance during installation by means of the axial sliding travel.
The C3 bearing clearance is greater than the standard clearance. In bearings with a tapered bore, the inner ring expands measurably during press-fitting. The increased C3 clearance helps to ensure that the bearing does not become distorted after assembly and as a result of operational heating.
The solid brass cage, marked ‘MB’, guides the barrel-shaped rollers precisely along the raceway. Brass is characterised by high strength and resistance to vibration. This type of cage is particularly suitable for harsher operating conditions and dynamic load cycles in continuous operation.
The component is designed for use within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. The dimensional stability of the bearing rings and the brass cage is maintained within this temperature range. It is recommended to use a lubricant whose thermal specification corresponds to the actual operating temperature of the bearing location.
As an open type, this roller bearing has no factory-fitted seals. Protection against contamination and moisture is provided by the design of the surrounding machine housing. Shaft seals or labyrinth systems fitted there keep lubricants inside and protect the raceways from external contaminants.
